Our guests needs and comforts are extreamly important to us. That is why over 20 years we have so many 5 star reviews from our guests from VRBO and Airbnb. Unfortunately and rarley, some guests are extremely picky and petty, and get a vacation rental confused with the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. A prior guest left the Grill lit and unattended, and was unfortunately not safe to use. The parts to repair it were on back order. This was explained prior to arrival. (It subsequently has been repaired and works fine now) The main refrigerator was not properly cooling, so another "full size" refriderator was added to the large kitchen. There was not access to a water supply so we could not hook up the ice maker. That is why there was a fresh unopened bag of Ice left in the freezer. We have a second vacation rental on the property (a one bedroom perfect for two people) This is completely seperate from the Somm house, with a seperate parking area and seperate entrance which is about 100 ft. from the entrance of the Somm house. The room with the queen bed is not advertized as an ensuite and never has been. (The other three rooms are suites) The queen room has it's own designated, adjacent full bath 10 ft. down the hall. This is a 100 acre property in the country (part of its charm) and as such there are friendly ferrrel cats, and other wild animals on the property. Because of this we keep trash and recycle bins in an enclosed area at the entrance to the driveway where the diposal company requires it. Unfortunatly, the 200 ft walk down the paved driveway may be too much for some people to handle, so the guest manual lets guests know they lcan leave sealed trash bags in the kitchen and our housekeepers will remove them. Because we are in a prolonged drought, we try to encourage our guests to use towels more than once. However we realize some guests need a fresh towel every day, so we leave at least two extra sets of towels in each bath, plus a near unlimited supply of fresh towels in the fully equiped laundry room inside the house which guests have access to. We have been owners of Bed and Breakfasts and vacations rentals in Paso Robles for about 20 years. Even though we try, we understand that over a 20 year period, it is impossible to please all of the several hundreds of guests we have stay with us every year. We are not always able to (for example) accomodate a guest who would like a early check-in or late check-out (especially in the time of Covid because of the extra time we take to clean and sanitize between guests) or the occasional guest that wants to stay an extra night free of charge. Sometimes people are just having a bad day and want someone to take it out on. That is why we try not to take a rare review like this one too personally.
