A welcoming hideaway with pool tucked away in a peaceful leafy area, but just a 20-minute walk from Plani beach and Lakka village.
With its traditional Paxiot stone façade, its grey shutters and its leafy gardens, Argentum is imbued with a gentle atmosphere of authenticity, warmth and filoxenia, that particularly Greek sense of hospitality. Stepping over the threshold, one feels immediately at home thanks to the beautifully crafted modern interiors and the practical but alluring simplicity of the layout.
Inside: accommodation at Argentum is on two levels, one of which is an open mezzanine above the ground floor.
The main entrance leads into a convivial open-plan space, part of which has double height ceilings. Light coloured wooden beams are reflected in the flooring, soft grey exposed stone walls add warmth, and a palette of greys, whites and browns brings a sense of tranquillity and harmony.
On the right is a dining table, on the left is a comfy sitting area with a sofa, an armchair and a TV, and straight ahead, looking out onto and accessing the gardens, is a well-equipped modern kitchen.
Doors on either side of this space lead into the two main bedrooms, both good-sized doubles with en-suite shower rooms and windows overlooking the gardens.
A flight of stairs leads from near the dining table up to the mezzanine under the eaves. To one side is a cosy sitting area, while to the other, connected via a gallery walkway with glass balustrades, is a double-twin bedroom with en-suite shower room. Please note that this bedroom is open and has low ceilings, so is most suitable for children. Skylights and little porthole windows at either end of the mezzanine ensure that both spaces have a soft, luminous feel.
Outside the gardens and terraces that surround Argentum are on several different levels and offer a nice variety of spots in which to dine, lounge and have fun. Towering Mediterranean pines, olives and other mature trees offer shade and seclusion, flowering plants add bursts of colour, aromatic shrubs perfume the air, and drystone walls delimit the various sections of the gardens, beyond the grounds extend.
Immediately surrounding the house is a wrap-around stone-flagged terrace that's accessed both from the kitchen and the main entrance and dotted with outdoor furniture.
On either side of the house, steps lead up to the next level, home to a large shaded four-poster day bed. Difficult to resist though this may be, a few more steps from here to the final terrace, which features a tempting infinity pool and a well-designed al fresco dining area built in local stone and topped with a wood-beamed roof. Equipped with large built-in barbecue, a fridge, a sink and a dishwasher, it is a fabulous place in which to cook, dine and while away the hours.
Due to the relatively limited number of hydrofoil/ferry connections between Corfu and Paxos in the shoulder seasons, we recommend arriving in Corfu by midday or, alternatively, adding a night in Corfu town the day before and/or after your time in Paxos.
Argentum features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.
Due to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times. Arrival details will be confirmed by The Thinking Traveller after your villa is confirmed.
The Thinking Traveller can organise transfers and car hire and an agent will be in touch with you once your villa is confirmed.
