The staff were welcoming, very helpful & friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and looked like it had recently been refurbished. We had everything we needed & even some shortbread with our tea tray, a lovely extra touch! We ate in the bar & again both the food & service were excellent. I cannot rate our stay highly enough & we are looking forward to returning next year & using it as our base for Burghley Horse Trials. Thank you 😊

Dirty rundown hotel

We had room 9. When we arrived, the door handle was broken and partially hanging off. The room was dirty with dust everywhere and in desperate need of redecorating Luckily enough the bed appeared to be clean.the tv had no remote when we finally found out how to switch it on the signal was pretty bad so couldnt watch anything anyway. Parking was ample and wifi worked. Wouldnt recommend this hotel unless you had low standards

Chilled hotel with home comforts

Lovely little place to stay. Nice and quiet, clean and comfortable. I was travelling for business so had dinner in my room which was lovely. I can highly recommend on peppered steak pie. All the staff were very helpful without being overbearing. A really chilled hotel with the comforts of home.

Basic hotel

The Bar staff could not have been better. The hotel did seem to be understaffed. The accommodation needs to be upgraded as the location was good. Tea and coffee available in the room but no bottled water. Food was below average and overpriced.

Would stay again

The inn is located right next to a busy A road so I was worried that it may be noise inside from the sound of the traffic, but once in our room we could not hear anything. The cleanliness of the inn was fine, there were the odd bits of dust on the light fittings but nothing to really complain about. The carpet on the stairs to the rooms could do with a freshen up but that’s the only negative I can really give.

Room was basic which was ok for one night. Beds were hard and only had one pillow and no spares. Black mold on ceiling over bath/shower. Bread in box on breakfast table was moldy and when mentioned the person didn’t clean the box before putting fresh bread in it.

We liked the initial impression, the ease of parking and the staff, but we weren't impressed by the amount of dust in our room, which obviously hadn't been properly dusted for a long time. Everything else was great.

Great staff but needs some TLC as its over priced in my opinion and the food is ok but not the best. Had the steak pie. Felt like pie night was left over slices of beef put in a pie. Small portions too! Room as clean but the mattress needs renewing as i just sack into it, like the springs had collapsed. Its a £60 a night hotel not the £89 i paid.

I’ve stayed here before and it’s a nice building but a little tired. Our main issue was when we got there at 9.30pm after working all day the hot water or shower didn’t work.We tried calling the number but nobody answered and no one was at reception next morning. I sent a message but had no reply. Not great service

Cold shower as the thermostat was broken on the room. Room was grubby staff were slow when they were there and quite unhelpful paid for breakfast got there before the end of their times they gave was nothing left. I stay in hotels 4 nights a week do yourself a favour book somewhere else it was not worth the money

It was OK...nothing more..

It was OK...The buildings are Very old and in need of some TLC. There is no air-con and the night we stayed it was uncomfortably hot..but you can not open the windows as the Hotel is on the busy A1 road. Breakfast for a Sunday was too early really: 08:30 - 09:30 and a very limited choice. The Beds are Old....and every time you moved the bed frame creaked, as did the floor boards. Would we stay here again: No... One member of the Team stood out and that was Bret: 10/10 !!

Very nice old Inn with very welcoming staff. Good room and queit as at the back of the courtyard overlooking fields. Really nice meal, very well cooked and presented generous proportion,accompanied by an excellent ale to wash it down. We'll definitely be staying again. Our only critisism was having the radio playing in the bar and eating area. It would be much less distracting and a more relaxed atmosphere if it was just music playing. Many thanks, Terry.

Fabulous place to break up a journey.

Despite a slight staffing issue which was successfully resolved this was a great stay…. Comfortable; friendly; good food and a wonderful rural view out of the bedroom windows which contributed to the sense of peace about the place….despite being so close to the A1.
