Very nice stay, just what was needed after living out of suitcases for a week touring northern France. Taller guests need to be a bit careful to cope with the stairs and low beams upstairs to avoid bumping their heads.

A Perfect Stay at Walnut Lodge – Unforgettable Hospitality

We stayed at Walnut Lodge from 22nd to 29th July 2025 while attending a wedding at a nearby château just 5 minutes away—and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The location was absolutely ideal, tucked away in a peaceful setting yet just 10 minutes from La Roche-Posay, home to an incredible spa, casino, and plenty of local shops and restaurants serving fantastic food.There’s also a lovely market held twice a week that’s well worth a visit.Our hosts, Lisa and Bryan, were exceptional from start to finish. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their beautiful home and gîtes—set against a stunning backdrop—were truly a sight for sore eyes. The pool was perfect (when the rain held off!), and what really made our stay extra special was their offer to transport us to and from the wedding, which was a massive help and so appreciated.And of course, we can’t forget Frankie, their friendly French Bulldog, who greeted us with a wag and a warm welcome every time we returned.If you’re looking for a peaceful, unique, and welcoming experience in the French countryside, we’d recommend Lisa and Bryan’s Walnut Lodge again and again. From the comfort and charm of the property to the kindness and hospitality of our hosts, we truly couldn’t fault our stay.Top tip: Make sure you have a car to explore the surrounding area with ease.– Michael & Jade

Wonderful week of holiday at the Walnut Lodge with our dog. The owner, Lisa, was very friendly and helpful, giving us many adresses to try. We had a lovely week enjoying the house and surroundings with our dog.

Lovely logis in the French countryside

We had a great time in this lovely logis near Pleumartin. Lisa is a great host, very attentive, responsive and informative. The logis had everything we needed. The constant rain prevented us from fully enjoying the beautiful property and the pool as much as we would have liked it. Lots of things to explore around the area, and a bit further (Loire chateaux and so on).

Logement idéal pour se ressourcer à la campagne, pas de bruit, jardin immense, piscine. Pleins de jolis lieux à visiter aux alentours. Lisa est vraiment très gentil, et souriante. Un accueil chaleureux, un lodge fonctionnel et parfait pour un couple. Les propriétaires adorent les animaux :)... Les alentours sont également très interessants à visiter et certains villages médiévaux à proximité sont à couper le souffle. Entre calme, dépaysement et découverte. Ne pas hésitez une seconde pour se déconnecter et se reconnecter à l'essentiel.

Un havre de paix

C'est une jolie petite maison avec un parc magnifique et une piscine superbe même extraordinaire pour faire des longueurs ou se baigner. On a l'impression de nager en pleine nature, sans rien autour. Lisa et son mari sont adorables, discrets et disponibles dès que c'est nécessaire. C'est aussi un endroit super accueillant pour les personnes qui ont un chien. Il pourra gambader dans le parc avec des sous bois qui sont clôturés. L'endroit est super bien placé pour visiter en voiture plein de sites historiques. Mais c'est aussi un lieu pour déconnecter du tumulte de la ville. Merci pour ce beau séjour!

Pour 2 personnes maisonnette très bien équipée, entourée d'un parc de verdure et d'une piscine. Ideal pour se reposer. ⚠ pour la chambre à l'étage les escaliers sont étroits et raides.... Un excellent accueil et une hôtesse très gentille et serviable.
