Great place to get away and simply be. Quiet, peaceful, picturesque. Definitely a driving destination as grocery/restaurants are a distant walk. House is charming and in a quaint neighborhood, lets you settle in as a local.

Relaxing beach stay!

We really enjoyed our stay in Portsmouth. The host was responsive and stayed in contact during the stay. Check in was easy and the location was perfect! We enjoyed beautiful sunsets each night and the fenced in yard was perfect for our younger guests. Quiet street and perfect for a family vacation!

House is in wonderful location. Cleaning left a bunch to be desired. When we arrived, the house is clearly been closed up for a long time and was very musty. I had to open all the windows and air the place out immediately. Lots of spiderwebs around bathroom areas Clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a bit. Kitchen supplies were definitely not up to par for a house that could seat eight people for dinner.

Wedding weekend

Rented place for my groomsman for my wedding weekend, house and location are great, lots of room to enjoy the day and was close to all the venues we needed to get to to, weekend was incredible. Just remember to buy fans as the upstairs does get pretty hot in the summer time, house has crank windows that don’t fit ac’s. We managed just fine and it was fantastic.

Great Location but needs some love

Couldn't be happier with the location. The house doesn't have air conditioning, lucky we had a mild 4 of july weekend. I had trouble contacting the host or management company for check in. i called 3 different numbers and sent emails and direct messages to try and confirm the check in process and get lock box codes. it took me calling their 3rd party management company 2 times before i got a text 13 min before check in time. The house was adequate but needed to be cleaned better. A storm rolled through and knocked part of the balcony off on our first day so we never got to use that aspect of the house. The whole back deck area is covered in leafs and overgrowth. And it would be nice to have an operating outdoor shower. In all it's a fantastic location, i just wish the house was in better order.

Bring your Own Body wash and hand soap

The house is nice and spacious; the owner gets an "F" for communication and hospitality. He told me we would get house key code 24 hours in advance and when I still had not received 22 hours in advance I had to text him again to get the code. He also never informed us that the house did not have some basics like pillow cases for 2 of the pillows in one bedroom. We received one towel per person" as it was only a 4 night stay "; despite the house being close to the ocean that other neighbors were enjoying. We discovered after we arrived that no soap for tub and we appeared to have hand soap in 1 bathroom; but when used it discovered it was water with a little soap in it. It was frustrating to have to make multiple trips to the grocery store. The house was hot when we arrived , but cooled off quickly as soon as we opened the windows . Owner did provide working ceiling fans in the rooms and box fans which kept the house comfortable. Owner needs a good management company as a different attitude and a few basics could have turned this into a wonderful 4 or 5 star experience. After much communication; owner informed us that we could find a pillowcase in room behind living room that he had asked us not to go into; we did find 1 pillowcase in a cabinet in there. But he had been telling us to use dusty pillows from the couch for pillows because 2 pillows had no pillowcases. The off limits room also had beach towels which we did not use. Owner expected us to take out all trash and take trash and recycling bins to the curb. Owner wanted us to strip beds and start 1 load of laundry prior to leaving which we did; but we would have done even more if owner had been more pleasant. It would also have been helpful to have information on grocery store and restaurants he sent in his text on a laminated sheet on table or kitchen counter.

Not worth the money

The location was perfect and the house was cute, however, POORLY maintained. The deck was in horrible shape with the built in bench falling apart and covered in moss due to over hanging trees, the gutters were overflowing and the swing is a liability waiting to happen. The house was incredibly hot with only one room that had the AC turned on (it was controlled by the home owner) which started blowing out hot air shortly after arrival. When I messaged the home owner they turned it off, and when asked to turn it back on later in the evening in hopes it would be working correctly, the home owners stated when they lived on the property they barely ever used the unit but did end up turning it back on for us. Upon further inspection, the AC unit had vines growing in it so we used it sparingly. The rest of the rooms had fans which barely made a difference. There is only one tv that is connected to streaming services in the living room so if you need a tv to fall asleep to, you’ll need to bring a tablet or use your phone. Additionally, the ants were terrible and be prepared to spend a ton of time trying to figure out which light switch goes with what, there’s a ton! Lastly, I’ve rented many houses in the past and for the amount of money spent, to have to strip beds, start a load of laundry and do a load of dishes in the dishwasher, I ended up leaving with a house cleaner than what I arrived to. These are all things I would regularly do, however, have not been asked to do so with any other rental property. The location was the only perk as it was right by the water with excellent views.

No AC in any bedrooms

Come prepared to sweat and wake up with the birds at 4:30am every morning. 0 effort put into any outdoor space, so you're spending all your time inside. Just a very basic house with not much more than a few beds, couch, etc. 1 clean bathroom and 1 old and in need of renovation.

Cozy Cottage

This is a clean, cozy, cottage that is steps to ocean shoreline. Easy check in and owner is accessible for any questions. The home is spacious and comfortable. Quiet neighborhood. Our family loved it and will consider renting again in future.

Gorgeous neighborhood, well laid out house with no upstairs AC & poor management

The location on the beach is lovely, and the house is spacious. Quiet neighborhood, easy drive to all area locations (Mansions, beaches, Blithewold). The listing was honest: AC in living room only-didn’t realize how hot the rest of the house would be. We had a hot summer week & the upstairs was stifling. 3 upstairs bedrooms: master had enough ventilation/windows/fan to cool off enough to sleep by midnight. The other two did not; 2 fans in the house were out of order. We ended up dragging mattresses to the living room for the kids to sleep. The back living/TV room was lovely: spacious, smart TV with Netflix etc so all kinds of shows. Lots of board games and assorted books. Kids books (Captain Underpants which my boys love) & wide adult selection too. Great view from surfboard styled counter with chairs. Great AC in back living room only. Basic kitchen equipment: can make simple dishes just fine. All appliances worked. Ants annoying but if we kept all food in the fridge it was fine & they stayed in the trash area. I’m sure this will be fixed. Very poor management company Evolve: cheapest quality TP/sheets/soap, ants all over the kitchen, back porch dirty with broken bench, no outdoor table or seating despite lovely location/yard, missing hammock seen in photos online, unsafe swing, filthy grill: slow response on issues-grill finally cleaned Thursday of our week then fine, refused to fix the fans. Left ant traps for us to install Thursday. Little orientation information. No response to emails/calls to full VM box, would respond sometimes to texts. Eventually apologized saying very busy on Thursday to issues we texted about Mon/Tues. Overall: would recommend if the weather is cool and/or you love heat. This property would be superb if upstairs AC was added and the management issues were resolved.
