Flooded lane near Powburn This minor road crosses the Fawdon Burn on this bridge, and also crosses from Alnwick District to Berwick-upon-Tweed District. The flooding seems to be due to run off from the fields meeting a low point on the lane, rather than the burn being high.

Between Powburn and Branton The lane between the two villages stays to the lower ground to the right, whilst a footpath climbs an intervening low outcrop. This is cattle territory.

Crawley Tower The medieval seat of the Heron family. It was built in the mid 14th century but was in ruins by the mid 16th century. In the 18th century it was restored to provide cottage accommodation. It stands in a commanding position above the Breamish valley.

The cottage was comfortable and on the whole clean. The kitchen was well resourced with utensils and equipment. The gift box was loaded full of tea, coffee, biscuits, sugar with milk in the frdge.
