Little Red Cabin in the Woods

Cares fall away with each bend in the road as you wind your way down south Highway 89 through boulders and forest. The cabin is 5 miles, 10 minutes, from front door to courthouse square. Psychologically, it feels further away as town gives way to the elements, mountain horizons, and starry skies. Settle into the small community of Ponderosa Park, altitude 5700, homesteaded 1884.

The cabin is intimate at 750 square feet, an open floor plan with high ceilings, many windows, two bedrooms, covered porch and fenced backyard. The design is simple, artistic, cozy and familial.

Many ways to fill a day: light a fire in the fireplace and share stories, grill on the back deck, swing on the front porch under cover of the rain, cook in a well-stocked kitchen, high-speed wifi and tv in living room, hike the surrounding Prescott National Forest and Indian Creek.

Or make your way easily into Prescott for amenities and amusement. Come sit awhile...

Please note dog rules and Yavapai County dog laws under "House Rules" section of this listing.

Winter Access:
It snows on average six times during the winter in varying amounts. Ponderosa Road is plowed and snow on the ground usually melts within a few days. Generally a two-wheel front drive will be fine for access, but following a heavy snow it may be dicey for a couple of days.

All good except
Good place to stay if you want to be away from everything and relax, however owner wants to claim someone smoked inside and charge additional fee, but no one smoked inside what so ever. Enjoyed a cigar on the deck only, but smoking IS allowed on premises. We have a place there ourselves and have stayed at 13 other places and never had someone try this. Other than this trick to add fees the stay was ok.

Cozy Cabin
I love the peace and quiet in this area. It was pretty cold the first day before I got the heaters going. The weather everywhere has been cold this winter. But I always enjoy my stay.

Cute Little Cabin in the Woods
This cute little cabin is in a beautiful wooded area yet so close to town! We enjoyed our weekend stay with comfortable beds, cozy living area, and lots of hot water in the shower! We appreciated the very quick response when we encountered a little snag during our first night. Everything was quickly resolved and the rest of our stay was great!

Nice, could use a few upgrades
Overall our experience was good. My wife and I stayed here for a quick weekend get away without kids. The cabin was pretty clean but there was something in there that had both our eyes constantly itchy and irritated. Neither of us have allergies that we’re aware of but our eyes and noses did not get along with something inside that cabin. The bed frames are kind of noisy, anytime anyone turned over in bed it was loud. The mattress were pretty comfortable. I have a thing about TV’s. Why in the world does every place not have a large TV >55”?! TVs are cheap now so I feel like every place should have a screen large enough to not have to squint to see. Sometime during a get away, watching a movie/show is all we want to do but not on a small 30” TV. New shower head would also be nice. This one is old, doesn’t spray very well. Water was hot which was great. The cabin is decent, nothing fancy, gets the job done. For how close the surrounding houses are, it was very quiet which was great.
