"What an amazingly unique place to stay!! We loved the age and charm of the cottage. The views from the upstairs windows were beautiful! The cottage was equipped with everything we could need and more. So much lovely art and so many books to choose from. Very comfortable beds, a great shower, and many places to find a cozy place to curl up and read a good book with a cup of tea! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!"

"This was one of the best rental properties we have ever stayed in. Stephen is an amazing host, who was very easy to communicate with, and very prompt with his responses. The kitchen was very well equipped, and stocked with all the basic necessities. Stephen even had two sets of walking poles that we were able to use on the trails. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to set up a homebase in the Buena Vista area. Thanks Stephen for sharing your lovely property with us.DeDeckers and NoonansTillsonburg and Bracebridge Ontario"

Tickle Cove Boat House

8/10 Good

"My granddaughter and I stayed here for 2 nights. We really loved it! Though we had some trouble with reception in the general area we thought our stay was fantastic. We were screeched in by the local community and that was one of the very best experiences of our entire Newfoundland trip! This tiny community is really the greatest example Of a traditional friendly Newfoundland fishing village! The little shop next to Johnny’s place had fantastic prices and the aquarium was very educational and enjoyable. The Fox Island trail head is only steps away from the boat house. We enjoyed sitting on the boathouse deck and watching the jelly fish and crabs zipping about in The water. The boat house was comfortable and enjoyable but we left wondering if possibly it’s haunted. The doors were opening and shutting on their own a lot when we first arrived and there was pounding on the walls - sort of like aggressive knocking. The boat house is on stilts so even if someone had been around - which no one was- they would not have been able to reach the walls of the boathouse. After we were screeched in by the locals, however, the doors and knocking on the walls stopped! Perhaps we have big imaginations and assigned a ghost to some non ghostly occurrences BUT we left with a good story to tell and after doing a bit of research we added the dead man’s pond of Fox island to our wonderful ghost story. Of all of our stays in Newfoundland, the tickle cove boat house became our most memorable !"
