This property was far more ran down than what the promoted photos show. It was very old and appeared not cared for. The person who greeted us was lovely however I would not recommend this property, especially those travelling with children. The playground and games room was basically unusable.

An absolutely gorgeous rural location, with fantastic views. Very photogenic! The cabin was very comfortable, rustic and homely. A real taste of rural Tasmania.

I do love this place. Yes, it does need upgrading, the games room needs some love, would be nice if the spa was fixed/working. However, my love of the animals, especially the Highland cows, farm stay outweigh the above, and this is why i return whenever up that way. Great location

Photos DO NOT reflect the property. 30 years ago this property would have been wonderful. Now, Everywhere is run down, tree house is unsafe for children. Activities room was dirty. Cabin was clean but so cluttered with unnecessary furniture. 6 side tables in 1 room? why? And a closet in the entry? Very cramped. Kids cracked their heads on the spiral stair case, myself also smacked into it. Sauna and spa are NOT AN OPTION. Spoke to owner who said it was closed because of covid. Then changed and said because of keeping costs down - but when asked why they wouldnt take photos down said they tried but internet wouldnt let them. Their own website has photos but she said she would not take photos down. She offered us a full refund if we left- too late for us to do so as we have little kids and quite ate. VERY DISSATISFIED AND DISAPPOINTED. Excellent location, lovely people, but dont like being mislead. Keep costs down sure, but be honest about what you have. Its a sad place of broken possibilities.

We were looking forward to our stay here but we’re left feeling very disappointed. Probably the biggest problem was the heating. There was a single gas heater in the lounge room that does not vent to the outside so the place filled up with gas fumes and smelled terrible, and we felt unsafe. The ceiling in the bathroom was mouldy, the shower head leaks out the side spraying cold water at you and the glasses in the kitchen were dirty when we arrived. Also the facilities around the place have not been looked after and are nothing like what’s advertised. We were quite disappointed with our stay.

The house was clean and warm with comfortable beds and a well appointed kitchen. The view from the bedroom window of the mountains in the morning was breathtaking. It was close enough to Cradle Mountain to arrive just after opening to beat the crowds.

Cold comfort at The Grannary
Inadequate cookware & utensils, all crockery, glassware & cookware required washing before use. The minimum of condiments provided. Heating was totally inadequate as it disappeared into the mezzanine and out through the windows, we froze ( it was early Autumn) The mezzanine is accessed through a treacherous spiral staircase that impinges into the lounge room head space. Steps down to the bathroom would not pass any safety inspection.

Definitely a family friendly country property. Feeding apples to donkeys and horses...bread to the chickens wandering the property. Charming, quirky gardens. Obviously old and been some sort of family property for a long time.. A bit run down... BUT !! The cottage ("Dad's Cottage" ) was an absolute delight...views out over Mount Roland from bed at dawn (no need to shut the curtains here ). Comfy old loungeroom complete with board games and books..(Get rid of the TV! Who needs it?) Tidy kitchen with modern appliances Modern bathroom, beautifully tiled. Washing machine and tumble drier were useful too!! And... The cottage was absolutely spotless inside. I hope my wife and I left it as we found it. If you are happy to 'dag' around in the Tasmanian countryside, near Shefffield......Bloody marvellous !!! Thanks to our hosts. Lovely people..

Friendly host, property requires major renovation
While the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, the overall property, rooms, and other infrastructure require major renovations. Linens, towels, sports room, and cycles are in bad condition and require extensive repair.

Great view, nice manager and pleasant stay. Room was very large and comfortable, clean and had a great view of the balcony. The area had been hit by a recent storm so their was some damage to the property. Also some of the properties amenities were no longer in use, but overall we had a great stay and would stay again. Take food (we used the kitchen and bbq) as the closest shops / is 20 minutes away at best.

Very outdated accommodation.. windows wept with condensation. wanted to use the BBQ but it was so rusty we couldnt. broken cutlery, cutlery drawer fell out as it had no stopper. luckily missing our feet

Our cabin was unique and pretty. It was a bit cold with just the one heater. The view and surrounds of the property are beautiful. We especially loved the cows, horses and donkeys wandering around. The view from our lounge room was amazing. The staff were lovely and very accomodating. We would definitley come again, a beautiful place.

Rustic charm of a cottage atmosphere. Amenities adequate with plenty of room and seating. Minor faults requiring some maintenance but nothing major. Some people who are "perfectionists" will not like it but those looking for charm will.

Cosy cottage, good for the whole family. Kids loved the lofty style living. But amenities need some maintenance and cleaness is not top notch. Friendly owner, good for a family get away if you're not picky.
