A statue of theologian Roger Williams was built in the late 1930s.. The 15-foot tall granite statue commemorates Williams' founding of the state of Rhode Island and his promotion for religious freedom. The statue depicts Williams gazing over the city.

This is such a great place to get spectacular views of the city. The park faces west so the sunsets can be fantastic.

I was sitting in the office, watching the darkening skies and knowing a dramatic sunset was going to happen. I grabbed my camera, left work early and raced to a spot in the city where I knew I would be able to get a good perspective of the city and sunset. Nature did not disappoint.

This is a statue of the founder of Providence and leader of the separation of church and state in America, Roger Williams,

In the background one can see the 'new' Providence. Most of these buildings have gone up within the past 25 years, after these two rivers were moved. In the warmer weather, Waterfire can be seen illuminating these rivers.
