Barcelo Bavaro was my first all-inclusive resort. Arrived around 1p at the resort, we were at the adult-only side. We checked in, left our luggage’s with the people at the door (normal check in 3pm); went for lunch at the buffet. Most foods were salty and less than average at the time of our stay. After lunch, went to the bar, got virgin pina colada which had an after taste of gasoline. Room was good with view of the pool, garden and beach. After settling in, we took a nap &woke up around 12a & missed dinner. Only the sport bar at the Palace is open 24hrs. We walked less than 15min (though there is a car travel q30min between both sides). The bar was also a buffet & located in front of the casino (you need your ID to enter). Braunny (my guest experience ambassador) was able to attend to our needs promptly as long as it wasn’t in the middle of the night. Overall, the experience was 8.5/10. But there was lack of info: 1-we weren’t made aware of the towels card until we were at the waterpark. 2-we were in darkness for 2days until one of the housekeeping lady showed us that there was a switch at the door that control the lights. 3- my sister could had been in trouble if it was her in the shower with no light and water. Also, she is close to her 60th & she wished it was just a standing shower or fully closed door bathtub. 4- Lunch and dinner reservations to a specific restaurant need to be booked at least before arriving for 100% guaranteed (though I don’t know if feasible).

The room we stayed in was clean, and all staff members we interacted with were friendly, professional, and willing to assist. Overall, it was an excellent place to both relax and enjoy recreational activities.

From a mid-30s, entry-level all-inclusive perspective, we had a solid experience overall. Amenities: Not a ton to do strictly on the adults-only side, but you can roam the full resort and always find something. Drinks were easy to come by, and the beach was the highlight. We spent one day at the pool and chose the beach every other day. Nightly shows were fun, but daytime entertainment felt limited. Pool: The pool was fine but chilly in January. Entertainment was minimal and most guests lounged. Arriving before 9:30 AM was needed for four chairs (two was easy). Bohio bar had decent drinks, though frozen drinks were often melted. Mojitos were consistently great. Beach: Soft sand, clear water, and plenty of seating. Even arriving at 10–11 AM, we could find four chairs. This alone bumped the resort from a 3/5 to a 4/5. Food: The weakest point. The buffet surprisingly had more variety, including reliable vegetarian and vegan options. À la carte restaurants were hit or miss and often slow. Reservations are key—book early. The family side’s Strikers was great for late-night food. Rooms: We booked a standard room and barely spent time there. Great view, fridge restocked daily, strong AC, firm beds, and clean towels. Rooms were dated but didn’t bother us. Transportation between resorts was easy, though the language barrier outside the front desk made vegetarian dining challenging. Overall, we had a great time and might return, but would likely explore other options first.

The room was very poorly cleaned, but the floors behind the bathroom doors were never cleaned, the drains often clogged and the water wouldn't drain. The air conditioning didn't work very well and had a very unpleasant smell. The food 👍 and everything else left a lot to be desired. I have a bad impression of this hotel. I don't want to return.

Very disappointing. The photos and reviews online did not accurately depict the resort. After an hour on the property, we canceled our reservation and moved to a different resort. At check in we didn’t receive any information about the property, where restaurants were located, where our room was located or any other guidance. We asked a gentlemen to direct us to our room and he assisted us well. Once in the room, the room looked nothing like the online photos. There was red lipstick on one of the pillowcases, a large clump of hair on the floor, and something inside the bathtub that hadn’t been cleaned. The smell was horrific. We tried to grab some food to take a moment and breathe before making a decision and were told we would need to take a train to get to a restaurant. At that point we decided to cancel our reservation. The front desk was accommodating and was helpful in getting us transport and in getting our payment refunded.

Barceló Bávaro Beach – Adults Only (Premium Guest) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4/5) Overall, we had a good stay at Barceló Bávaro Beach Adults Only, especially as Premium guests, but there are a few important points worth mentioning. Food: The food was great across the resort, with good variety and quality. Definitely one of the highlights of our stay. New Year’s Eve Event: Absolutely 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The venue, organization, and atmosphere were excellent and very well done. Cleanliness: Rooms and common areas were clean and well maintained. Amenities: Amenities were okay—nothing outstanding, but adequate for a relaxing stay. Staff Experience: This was very mixed. • Male staff members were consistently kind, friendly, and welcoming. • Unfortunately, several female staff members, especially at the front desk and resort shops, were not friendly, not welcoming, and came across as rude, which was disappointing for a resort of this level. Premium Guest Clarification: Laundry is listed under Premium benefits, but it should be clearly specified that it is NOT free and that charges apply. This was misleading. Room Safety Concern: A note was left in our room saying “watch out.” We immediately brought this to the front desk, but the staff member completely ignored our concern, even after showing her the note. This lack of response was unsettling and unacceptable. The resort has great food, a beautiful setting, and excellent events, but customer service—at the front desk needs improvement.

Beach was amazing. The specialty restaurants were great but required reservations so they were challenging to book. The buffets were crap. Same food at all of them so no difference at all. The “free” drinks were even worse. I had a margarita and and screw driver that were just terrible. Room service was hit and miss. Don’t forget to bring any necessities. A basic sunscreen is $44 USD! Beach and party boats were amazing. New Years Eve was a practice in nickle and diming. After paying $7,500 for the “all-inclusive”, for new years they wanted $400 per person, not per room, for a ‘premium’ table for new years. We opted not to do that and did our own thing. I can’t stress enough how bad the buffets are. If you go, when you are in the premium guest services the first day you arrive, make all your dinner reservations for the week. Trust me.

We didn't receive a balcony room. Got a 1st floor room that was flooded by rainfall. The room was very dusty; cleaning consisted of towel change, spreading out bed covers! I have pictures for posting. Staff are not happy, this is odd since Dominicans are very friendly, talkative and always laughing. The food was bland!

Everything was perfect! I’d definitely recommend it. Marlennys Sanchez at Bar Bohio was the highlight. She made great drinks and made me feel so welcome. Overall 10/10.
