“The guesthouse is nice enough but the staff were standoffish to begin with. There was an unexpected extra charge for my dog to stay. They had their large dogs roaming freely, which was intimidating to nervous dogs on leads. The shower in our room was old and complicated to use. I forgot an expensive orthopaedic pillow at the guesthouse and requested it to be sent to me. The owner assured me he had it, charged me €35 and sent an old battered cushion with no cover at a cost of €9. Overall the stay……

“The farmhouse was very clean with a spectacular view of the lake and surrounding areas. The staff was welcoming and the breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend for a short or extended stay.”

“The only thing we can complain about is that we couldn’t stay forever with Cathy! The place is much better than expected (really, much better). Super well equipped, comfortable, clean, and with marvelous decoration. The area where the house is located is absolutely stunning. And of course, we must mention Cathy again, she is incredibly nice, kind, intelligent, talkative, and made our one-night stay feel like being with family. We truly recommend this place to everyone who wants to spend a great……

“Safe and clean. Eclectic feel. Docked Two points because the doors and walls are paperthin. Can hear everything. I also ended up in disabled room which I didn't book. Also no "reception." If you need help after hours on a holiday think again ”

“Incredibly beautiful castle, grounds and room. Highly advise a castle bedroom if you can! Very clean, comfortable and huge. Biggest drawback was limited dining options during the week-same menu for lunch and dinner that gets boring pretty fast. Breakfast was tasty and lots of options all included. Close to Dublin- we didn’t have a car but 45 minutes by train and then 10 minute taxi made it easy (except book taxi ahead as Athy is pretty small). Worthwhile for the luxury to stay in a castle!”

“Loved the location and great for hiking and relaxing. Food was good but not exceptional. Main complaint is that we left early in the morning to get to the airport, 6:30 am, and we could not get out of the building. Front desk was unmanned and despite yelling a bit for assistance, we basically had to undue 2 locks at top and bottom of doors and then pry the locked doors past their locked position to stretch it open. A little scary had there been an emergency. We did try walking around……

“This is a great hotel in many ways- location, room size and decor, bathroom and it is quiet. There are no annoying little lights overhead for smoke alarms and the red tv light is hidden in the cabinet. Only 2 issues to make for an EXCELLENT review- there was no body/ hand lotion and the wifi was very very patchy. Otherwise, a great visit. ”
