The Alpaca Loft is an alpaca-themed barn loft designed as a home base for adventuring with your furry friend (we do not have live alpacas onsite - yet!). Situated halfway between Reno and Carson City in Washoe Valley, The Alpaca Loft offers a peaceful retreat in the rural high desert with views of the mountains and herds of wild horses, while being just a mere 25 minutes south of RNO airport.
The Alpaca Loft is approximately equidistant between North and South Tahoe, the perfect spot for water sports and mountain adventures up at Lake Tahoe. But if you prefer to stay local, Washoe Lake State Park is just a few minutes away, and miles of off-road and mountain biking trails await in the hills east of the home.

Just a 10-15 minute walk down the street, you can find Anneke Schat's Coffee & Pastry - yes, from the very same Schat family, world-famous for their wholesome, delicious pastries - where you can grab every manner of coffee drinks, sandwiches, soup, fresh bread, and of course, pastries. Our favorites are the chili ham and cheese and the almond croissant, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Next door, you'll find the newly updated Washoe Tavern, a local neighborhood watering hole with a beautiful backyard and live entertainment. If you continue down the main road, you'll find Washoe Pizza and Grill for Mediterranean and Indian-inspired dishes, along with pizza of course! And if you need last minute supplies, you can always stop by True Value Hardware or Dollar General.
NOTE: Owner lives in the primary residence at the front of the property. The Alpaca Loft is located at the back of the property and has its own private yard and blackout blinds for full privacy during your stay. There is plenty of parking onsite for cars and trailers - perfect for hauling dirtbikes and toys. No off-site street parking allowed.
Winter Note: From November to March, occasional snowstorms bring a few inches that melt quickly in morning sun; rare multi-foot dumps may last days, impacting travel and requiring AWD/4WD. Please plan accordingly.
