We were so pleased to get a great price on the beautiful Big Cedar at the Wilderness Club, one of our favorite places. This Wilderness Club is a timeshare, and owners use VRBO to rent out units with their points. We were so disappointed to get a call a day or two before our trip saying the owner of those points had been ghosting the management company who handles the renting of these properties. We were so confused because the listing clearly states that you aren't getting a specific unit, but rather that one will be assigned on arrival. Karen from the management company explained the situation and offered to substitute the Wyndham Vista. When we explained that we would not be able to use the Bent Hook Marina unless we were staying on Big Cedar which was a "must" for us, she worked hard and found a replacement at Big Cedar from a cancelation (free upgrade even).
The property itself is lovely, comfortable, with beautiful views and activities nearby. We fished and hiked in in nearby Branson. The Branson restaurant scene isn't the best, and we ate at 3 different restaurants owned by Johnny Morris (developer of Big Cedar/Bass Pro) which were greatly overpriced but good (kind of like you'd expect at Disneyworld).
I would recommend booking this property IF you are in a position where you won't lose money (ex: airfare, etc) if the owner cancels and the property management company can't find a replacement unit.
