I love staying at this spot. It is the second time I stay there with family and friends. It is a safe place and extremely accessible. You can se the christ from the balcony, it’s a 2 minutes walk to the train station, 5 minutes walk to the mall and to many other stores. There are many stores around the area and you can find anything you may need within 5-10 minutes walks. The place is clean, there are no bugs around and everyone is friendly except the receptionist in the afternoon. The night and morning people are super sweet and helpful. The food is great! But it does get repetitive after you have stayed there for a couple of days. So that is one thing I would suggest, to change the breakfast menu every now and then. Other than that I love the place and I definitely recommend.

An awful experience at Ace Suites Hostel
My stay at Ace Suites Hostel was totally infuriating, for a number of reasons: 1) Ace Suites Hostel refuses to switch on the air con in the dormitories between the hours of 10am and 10pm. Dormitory guests have no control over the air con unit in the room for which they have paid, and the air con is programmed to switch on at 10pm and switch off again at 10am — even if there are still people sleeping or relaxing in the room. 2) The common area is ONLY PLACE IN THE HOSTEL WHERE THE WIFI ACTUALLY WORKS, but it's also extremely hot there, there's no fans, few comfortable chairs, and in the evenings mosquitoes come in through the balcony window (the only source of breeze and ventilation) and bite anyone who is still in the common area. 3) The receptionist demanded that I pay 10 reals (£2) just to take a shower as I was checking out. I was staying in a six-bed dorm and that morning the traffic in and out of the shower had been very busy, and I didn't manage to take a shower before 11:30 check out time. I did, however, go down to reception at 11:25 to make sure that I officially checked out on-time, and ask if it would be OK to run back up to the room to take a shower after returning my key. To my astonishment, though, I was asked to pay 10 reals just to take a shower. It's completely unreasonable to demand further payment from a guest for something so trivial. I wasn't asking for a free lunch — just an extra few minutes to take a shower once the shower was free.

Cute hostel in Botafogo close to metro
Stayed here with my mom in a private room and we had a good time, very friendly staff. Room was great with own bathroom/shower, tv, fridge and cold AC. Considering its a hostel, well worth it. Location is awesome! Only down side was all the noise, in the building until late hours etc... So if you can get a room that's not on the main floor that would help. Breakfast buffet is good for price

Sure! Thank you very much That's what we try to explain to guests. Please consider us a hostel that is what we are and not a hotel because our fancy common area and tha great shower facilities in every room. We appreciate your time giving us this fantastic review. Happy new year!

What you see is what you expect. It is a hostel, and it's clean. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, this is the place for you.

Overpriced Hostel
I arrived at this hostel around 01:00 AM and wanted to check in. Unfortunately, the receptionist spoke no single word of English. I handed him a copy of the booking confirmation (I had booked a private room) but had to wait for more than 30 minutes only for him to get me a shared dormitory! I moved to my private room the next day morning after explaining the problem to an English-speaking receptionist.

THank you for your review. AFter 11pm till 7 am there is no bilingual staff available at the hostel. As it says in advance at hotels.com site check in time should be until 11pm Hope you have enjoyed the rest of your stay with us.

Nice hostel, very close to Metro station Botafogo
The hostel was good, its staff is very kind and helpful... I really liked it to be close to metro station Botafogo and so one stop to Copacabana... the neighbourhood is cool with some nice outdoor bars... The Wifi should get better, or you will have to stay close to the lobby to get signal.

It STINKS
The place stinks of ammonia. The receptionists were even spraying air freshener around the room when we arrive. The room is small and old. Overall it was such a bad experience that we checked out the next day and looked for another place. Never again.

It's a hostel, not a hotel
I booked a private room with a private bathroom for me and my boyfriend and it was perfect. The room is barely bigger than the double bed but who cares, we didn't spend much time in there anyway. They have air conditioning and the shower was a good size. They didn't have room service (obviously) and the toilet never flushed all the way. The whole place was clean and no strangers could get in the hostel because they had to ring and pass 2 locked doors to get in. The staff was SUPER friendly and they sold drinks for cheap! They even had a bug screen flat screen in the room with cable and USB ports etc. Honestly, for the price we paid, I wouldn't ask for more. No bugs nothing. It's not the Ritz Carleton but it suits its purpose just fine.

Excellent value for money
I stayed here with my son during the World Cup and it was an excellent location for attractions and the Fan Fest at Copacabana. Although the room was very basic there was a nice lobby/ reception area with a bar where there was also an excellent breakfast. The hotel staff were very helpful in advising us where to visit and how to get around but they also were excellent in helping us out with problems we has with accommodation when we travelled onward to other cities by telephoning and sorting out reservations, etc. Don't be put off by the term hostel, I would describe it as a basic hotel, although the entrance at street level is not alluring once you go upstairs it's very nice. We would usually book a 3 or 4 star hotel when travelling but due to very limited availability and sky high prices during the World Cup we opted for here and I am delighted we did! If you are on a budget I don't think you could do better! Thank you very much to all the staff if you read this review!

Excellent, good value place to stay when in Rio
No frills accommodation with the friendliest, most helpful staff. Rooms were small, functional and clean - bed was superbly comfortable. Breakfast very leisurely but well presented with excellent choice of food and drink. No complaints about this hostel at all - cracking experience and would happily go back. Can't be beaten if you are looking for a great value place to stay in Rio, close to Metro, buses and taxis. Thanks for a great stay!!

Great ! I was glad to stay in Ace hostel
I was worrying about safety before I travel Rio but the area(Botafogo) is really safe and everything is close to the hostel. Copacabana is not close though you can easily hop in a taxi and get to Copacabana beach in 5 minutes. The price is reasonable. Don't miss breakfast, it's awesome :)

Café da manhã bom, com bolos frescos. Local era bom por ser perto de onde eu precisa. Televisão não funcionava no quarto, não conseguiram fazer os canais funcionarem. Colchão é bom, mas os travesseiros são muito duros. Fiquei com um pouco de dor no pescoço. A toalha tinha cabelo agarrado e estava manchada. O chuveiro é elétrico e como não era um dia de muito calor tive que diminuir o fluxo de água pra poder ter água quente para o banho.

Experiência péssima. Não indicaria!
Pontos positivos: Cama boa, atendimento bom e café ok. Pontos negativos: Fotos não condizem com a realidade. Hotel velho, sujo, todo quebrado, madeiras mal conservadas, cheirando mofo. Ar condicionado do quarto não desligava, descarga do vaso sanitário não funcionava a ponto de eu ter que pegar o lixo, encher d’água e jogar para escoar (nunca imaginei fazer isso em hotel, por mais simples que seja). Quarto fedendo a mofo, sem ventilação. Janela da para um corredor, o que impede a abertura, já que há passagem de pessoas. Hotel não possui elevador, apenas escada, caso necessite. Travesseiros e roupas de cama razoáveis. Toalhas velhas.

Sabíamos que o hotel era simples, mas a falta de uma janela no banheiro foi algo surpreendente, só teria secador de cabelo se fosse pedir na recepção, no quarto era muito apertado, não tinha guarda roupa, as malas ficavam no chão e dificultava locomoção, tinha que andar de lado, uma janela no quarto somente para circular o ar, tinha quartos maiores onde deveriam ser hospedados casais, lá informaram que estavam em reforma, tomara que melhore quando finalizar

Achei o banheiro bem pequeno, precisei entrar e tomar banho de lado. Também tinha o cheiro bem forte de esgoto. Também estava em obra e os pedreiros passavam rindo e conversando bem alto pelos corredores, onde me atrapalhava ao trabalhar do quarto. Recepção ok, café da manhã ok tb.

O quarto é muito pequeno, mal cabe a cama, cama ruim, banheiro ridiculamente pequeno, nao da para tomar banho, eu nunca tinha um banheiro extremamente pequeno, um horror, alem disso o quarto era fedido, sem nenhuma ventilacao, porta de entrada do hotel super estreita, escada inacessível, íngreme e estreita, horrível de subir, acesso aos quartos tambem, tudo horrível, decepção total, nenhuma informacao antecipada sobre o que estavamos alugando, levamos um choque ao ver aquilo, péssimo

Hotel não tem fachada alguma, é uma porta estreita, tive dificuldade em encontrar. Difícil acesso para subir com malas, dois lances de escadas super estreitos. Achei que o local tinha estacionamento, mas não, o mais próximo é um privado no Ibis, R$25/diária. Limpeza do quarto deixa a desejar, lençóis de cama velhos, travesseiro horrível, cheiro desagradável, toalhas de banho super finas. Café da manhã com poucas opções. Não voltaria, melhor ficar no Ibis que fica do outro lado da rua.

O local é totalmente desconfortável. O quarto e do tamanho de uma vaga de carro e o,banheiro e do tamanho de uma vaga de moto. A única janela do quarto da para o corretor de frente para outra janela de outro quarto. O corredor é muito estreito. Os extintores de incêndio estão posicionamos irregularmente, fora dos padrões exigidos pelo Corpo de Bombeiros. Privacidade nenhuma. Você escuta todos os vizinhos conversando. Até da para escutar a recepção. Outro problema gravíssimo e acessibilidade do local. Escadas enormes e estreitar. Varias armadilhas no caminho. Caso você seja caderante, idoso ou qualquer outro problema de locomoção nunca entre nesse lugar. Funcionários sem máscaras. Evidente que ali não tem nenhuma estrutura para hospedagem. Em caso de um possível incêndio não há saídas de emergência ou espaço suficiente para fulga. Café da manhã inapropriado não tem quase nada. Essa semana estarei acionando a Prefeitura, Vigilância Sanitária e Corpo de bombeiros para avaliação do local que certamente será autuado.

Como um hostel low budget cumpre o que promete. Simples, porém bem arrumado e limpo. Funcionários são educados e prestativos. Mas o local poderia, mesmo de forma econômica, dar um pouquinho mais de comodidade. O papel higiênico no banheiro do quarto compartilhado era da pior qualidade. Acho que não custaria muito também deixar ao menos um sabonete líquido e uma toalha de rosto no banheiro. E ok cobrar 5 reais pela toalha, mas que ao menos tenha um local onde seja possível seca-la. Enfim, nada que estrague a experiência, mas alguns cuidados a mais seriam bem vindos.
