Loved this location

The house was plenty spacious for the 3 of us and we enjoyed the walkable location. When we arrived we found some spilled ketchup in the fridge and an empty soda bottle from a previous guest kicked under our bed. The kitchen has everything you need. The bathroom is spacious and has wonderful water pressure and plenty of hot water. Over all we enjoyed our stay.

Great location. Run down

Great location! Large space! It’s like staying at your grandma’s cabin tho. A bit rundown. Beds uncomfortable. Old linens. Stove top did not work. Lots of space tho and next to the beach.

Great location, quaint, smells

Everything was great except the stale smell in the living room. Carpet smelled terrible. Airing out the room did little as most windows were sealed. The apartment was well appointed and having a new washer/dryer was great.

Not the cleanest.

We were disappointed with our house we had because the refrigerator and stove were dirty, The dish washer was empty, but dirty so not sure the dishes were clean. The bedding was poor and the tub did not drain well. The washer and dryer were updated and nice and the TV and DVD worked well and were nice. Ti The houses were very close and parking was not the best.

Quaint little cottage

Nice location close to the beach. Not true 2 space parking as we had a boat and ended up having to drop it on the street behind. No hoses or anything to wash sand from our feet or beach toys, so that would have been nice to have. Not sure there was even a spigot outside. No cooking pot for the crab we caught so we borrowed one from the neighbors. Sheets were too small for the bed, so they kept coming off at night. Seems like they could upgrade the appliances and furniture. Musty inside and no way to open a window. Good space for someone just wanting a weekend getaway. A block away from the beach so good proximity to that as well as walking distance to shops and restaurants. Everything closes in this town early so if you want dinner go before 7pm.

Needs an update

To begin with, the online pictures and description were misleading. The place is old, the furniture and appliances need updating, there's a musty smell throughout, the wash clothes and towels are old, faded and very thin, and you're very skimpy on the amenities. 1 each of soap, shampoo and conditioner (very small items) for 2 people for 3 nights. No kitchen accessories such as aluminum foil, plastic bags, etc. The location leaves a lot to be desired. And, you charge as much as most places, plus you also charge a cleaning fee, yet you ask us to do part of the cleaning for you. Not cool. In all, not a pleasant stay. I would not go back again.

Don't do it!

Our stay at Captain's Cottage was very disappointing to put it mildly.There was the old house smell,the feeling of dirt and dingy when you walked in.The toilet seat was so old and worn out with what looked like a very old brown surface.Anew one would be $20 maybe?The shower curtain liner was moldy on the bottom,probably not washed for years.Bleach is best.The kitchen sink was old dingy and chipped.The silverware drawer had probably never been cleaned out,old grey liners also dingy and dirty.The beds,not fit to sleep in.The queen size was too soft,the twin beds were hard and the pull out sofa bed had a ridge or something in the middle.We borrowed an air mattress from the family we were visiting.The old tired dirty furniture throughout the house looked like it came from Goodwill.The throw pillows also dingy and needed either a washing or dry cleaning.The carpets throughout should be replaced with tile or hardwoods.They also were filthy and looked like they had not been cleaned for YEARS!!!This cottage could be so much more with fresh paint and flooring,maybe white and some blue accents,not old furniture from a thrift store.For spending over $1400 for 6 nights,wow,never again! We have stayed in another Vacasa rental,but this one was bad!It is a shame.

Cozy, quaint and comfortable

I loved this little home away from home. Everything was well-stocked, the amenities were useful and helpful. It was perfect for my solo vacation, but would be good for up to four close friends, as well. So many shops and useful stores within walking distance and such quick, close beach access! I will be coming back, maybe as a yearly trip.

Spring Break 2022

At this price you will have a hard time finding anything better! Very cute 2 bedroom house right in town and just a couple minutes to walk to the beach. The house had plenty of room for the three of us and could have fit a few more if needed. The full kitchen allowed us to cook a few of our meals so we didn't have to eat out the entire trip and the washer and dryer would awesome for those stinky beach clothes. If I'm planning to go back I will definitely book this stay again.

Family Vacation

Decided to spend our sons 3rd birthday at a beach house. This turned out perfect for us. Location was close to everything walking distance. Including the beach. House was nice and spacious. Cozy & Close

We loved being able to walk to so many attractions/activities. The kids looked forward to the train passing by and ran to the window to wave every time (three trips during daylight hours only). The house was clean and accommodating--felt like home. Thanks for a great vacation!

Perfect getaway. We had everything we needed.

There is definitely a musty smell that took some getting used to, but other than that we were quite comfy. We were able to cook and stay in for lots of our meals. Lots of puzzles and games for family fun. The beach is just a short walk. It was perfect for our little family. We would definitely rent again!

Just right

The location is ideal for a beach get away. The rooms are well kept and the bathroom is roomy. The coffee nook up front was a good place to sit in the mornings and evenings. Beach is 2 minutes walk away and multiple restaurants and shopping

Charming

We three friends throughly enjoyed our stay at the Captain's Cottage in Rockaway Beach. So close to the beach and fun shops in downtown Rockaway. The Cottage has all the amenities that are nessecary for a beach visit, including for fun a kite, beach toys, games, puzzles and books.

Adequate

For the price, this cabin suited our needs. We were a family of four adults. Beds were decently comfortable. Bathroom was clean and nice (rather large for the size of the cabin). Furnishings were threadbare, but functional. It would be nice to have a fourth chair, or another couch, so 4 adults could lounge comfortably in the living room.
