Our brief stay at Prairie Base could not have been better. Clean, comfortable, and convenient. If we ever have need to travel to Rolla again, we will definitely stay here.

Wonderful, clean, beautiful

This is one of the cleanest, well maintained, and stocked places I've ever stayed at. Furniture, beds, etc were very clean and comfortable. The area is beautiful and you're not far from things to do in the area, yet it's peaceful and quiet. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Family Gathering for Thanksgiving

This was a perfect place to host Thanksgiving with our family. The home was pretty and clean with a farm style feel (loved it!) and the scenery of farm living was right out the windows! Our only regret was that we didn’t get to stay longer.

Country Oasis

What a beautiful cottage. It was roomy and very comfortable. The host stayed in contact with me and even offered to take us to see the fur babies. I positively loved it here and hope to book again when things are in order here at home.

Pleasant Country Atmosphere

Owners’ description and photos are accurate. Very attractive home, very clean, very nice decor. Large modern bathrooms with floor-level step-in showers and handheld shower option (which every accommodation should have!). Wide open country views from the many windows.

Steelville music trip

Perfect mix of country, cow, lake with a train track for extra credit. Lovely site. Offered a bonfire but too tuckered out. Clean. New. Well designed.

Meramec River Wine Trail Tour

Two couples stayed here to enjoy St. James MO and the wineries. We had an excellent stay. The place was perfectly clean and well-stocked. We loved the floor plan and were very comfortable. They have a fire pit ready for each of their units. Unfortunately, the evening was a little too chili for us to take advantage. They also had rocking chairs on the porch that looked so inviting to watch the sun set or rise but were not able to enjoy them. We will be back again. Communication was quick, responsive, and congenial. All of the grounds are well-maintained and lovely. We did not hear the train at all. Beautiful area of the state, I imagine it is even prettier in the spring, summer and fall.

Great place!

Our family of 5 had such a wonderful weekend! The place was so cute and very clean. We enjoyed the fire pit and the front porch. We went to Fugitive Beach for the day and had a blast!

Home away from home

This was by far the best experience we have had! All of us enjoyed the location, & didn’t wanna leave. It was very peaceful & cute watching the trains roll by or the horses in the nearby field! It was a magical experience! We even got to witness the “strawberry moon” on Tuesday, 6.10.25

A little slice of heaven and home in the country. This property offered nostalgia, quiet and the longing for a more relaxed lifestyle. The property was brand-new farmhouse style. The other surrounding properties would make this ideal for a family reunion. Although we were busy with sporting events in Rolla, we did get an opportunity to visit St. James Winery and it was wonderful. If life brings us back thru Missouri, we will visit this farm again. Thank you for sharing your family story and sentimental properties with the public - we felt right at home in grandpa's workshop.

SBO Girls Trip

Perfect! Just what we were looking for - quiet, swimming pool, a/c! Had everything we needed and more. The showers were big enough to hold all 5 of us! And had great water pressure! Only suggestion we have is to perhaps replace the loveseat by window with a sofa when the time comes for new furniture. Also, the twin blow up mattress did not hold much air.

Prairie Base

Prairie Base/Workshop was perfect for our needs. The owners were very nice and helpful. Especially enjoyed the two cats Cheeto and Dorito! Definitely on my return list.
