Mario is such an amazing host. He gave such good suggestions to activities, food and tips that only locals know. The place was conveniently located to all the walking areas. Most people thing being next to Colosseum is ideal, but this place is perfect walking distance to shopping, food, and all the other sites you would want to see.

We had a very pleasant stay at Basilio55. The central location is a big highlight – many of Rome’s main attractions are within walking distance, which made exploring the city easy and enjoyable. Mario was especially friendly and helpful throughout our stay. He was always available for questions and gave us great tips, which we really appreciated. The accommodation was clean and well-equipped. Overall, we would definitely recommend Basilio55 to anyone looking for a comfortable and conveniently located place to stay in Rome.

Clean. Breakfast not included, Expedia pictures may be misleading as they seem to infer the opposite. Booked room for three, there was barely enough space for two. As most every other review mentions, Mario was a great host. Great location, walking distance to attractions and restaurants.

Location is great as it’s a block away from the metro, but the room we stayed in was a crap show. The shower door was broken, the power kept going out and it wasn’t very clean. The staff is not very helpful and they’re hardly at the front desk.

The bathroom smelt like piss. We never got new towels. The shower pressure was so bad it was like showering under the sink. When we told the workers they said it happens and we should just turn on the sink while showering instead of fixing it… and mind you, that did nothing.

The amenities are classic Europe, small and quaint but everything you need. What made the stay so excellent was the host Mario, he is so quick to offer help and humour! First solo travel was made much easier with his advice and hospitality when my flight got canceled twice!

Good location, central to walk to all of the big spots. Mario was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. This property is not what it was advertised as. Won’t stay here again. There was no breakfast even though it was advertised as having it. Our shower did not work properly, toilet seat was broken. Bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way.

The hotel was so convenient to get to any major tourist spot in Rome. It was right next to the Metro station, only two stops from the termini or the central train station where you can get to the airport by two 30 (14 euro) or 60 mins (8 euro) trains. It was right across Hilton, so you know how good the location can be.

The hotel location is nice. Convenient to many attractions in walking distance and close to metro. The hotel itself does not reflect the images portrayed online. Very old and outdated for the cost. Lots of mold in bathroom, toilet seat screwed on sideways/ crooked, strangely raise shower (about 3 feet from the floor) which was an obstacle for the kids. There was visible dust/ dirt everywhere. Floors in room very dirty. Socks or shoes in room absolutely needed. Used/ open soaps in shower. We brought our own toiletries but it does show that there is not attention to customer comfort or cleanliness. Room very very cold with remote to temperature controls that did not work. Very small accommodations for family of 4 in comparison to other similarly priced properties. Staff are friendly and welcoming but you also still have to be careful as we caught a few instances where options/ advice was not quite accurate or trustworthy. We have stayed in Rome several times before in other areas, this property was definitely underwhelming. Cost does not reflect quality in our recent experience. We would not stay at this property again.

Great staff and a good location. Need to be fit as there is only a very small lift so we tended to use the spiral staircase.Decor needs upgrading and the lighting in one of our rooms was poor but a good price for the location we were in.

Walking distance to major attarctions like Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon and close to nearby restaurants. We also felt safe with the location. Our room was small, but clean and quiet. Decent enough for a place to rest after a long day of sightseeing in a busy but beautiful city like Rome

Overall we had a good stay here. Nice hosts, good location. Accommodation was clean, nice big bed but was a littke tired in areas and not the best shower. It had a fridge but no kettle for making hot drinks which was a shame. We enjoyed our stay and had a fantastic visit to Rome.

Just home from a fantastic few days staying at Basilio 55. The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location, close to all the sights in Rome. Mario was extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. As first timers to Rome, this made all the difference. Arranging airport transfers, booking tickets for attractions and even helping us plan the best routes to take. Highly recommend staying at Basilio, we will definitely be back.
