BEWARE: This place is a bait and switch scheme that they call a “royal suite” and sell you on the pictures but don’t tell you about the unbearable sewage smell that engulfs your entire room. It is unhealthy to stay here—even for 1 night. We booked a 1-night stay before a flight out of Rome the next afternoon. Upon check in, we told them that we smelled an unbearable sewage smell (which was so strong that you could taste it). The hotel responded with full prior knowledge of the smell and offered nothing more than a suggestion to “close the bathroom door.” We did (and even stuffed towels under the door), and it got no better. We had no choice but to leave the hotel at 11pm because we were getting headaches and nauseous. We sent a message to the hotel that we were leaving because of the smell and going to sleep on the airport floor instead. They promised that we would be “compensated” (because we quite literally were unable to stay in the room). However, in the weeks that followed, they ignored all further communications about a refund—including Expedia’s requests for them to issue a refund—which left us stuck paying in full for this sewer that we could not stay in overnight. For what it’s worth, I’ve never left a bad review in my life. But this place should not be able to get away with this scam. If this review stops even one person from paying to stay in this unsafe and nauseating cesspool (or on the airport floor instead), it will be worth it.

It was nice to be in a convenient area to some of the larger historic attractions in Rome. There were quite a few restaurants nearby but most didn't open until 7 p.m. and having arrived later in the day (3 p.m.) we hadn't made any reservations. We were greeted when we arrived and the gentleman explained the coffee and tea were available and the room amenities. The bed was comfortable. The shower leaked all over the floor in the bathroom and judging by the water marks on the grout, it had happened before. There was no shower soap or shampoo provided. We were provided towels and bathing caps. In the morning there was no tea except one bag of green and no coffee available at all at 8:30 am. We probably would not stay in this area of town again. We thought where we stayed on the other side of the river was much cleaner and less noisy. We also were not fans of the graffiti that seems to plague every building in this area.

This was my 4 th stay at the Royal suite . This place is a real gem. Great location with the best restaurants right outside your door. Great ac….. Great internet …. Great tv with netflicks….beautiful bathrooms… this is a small boutique hotel 1 suite and 4 nice rooms at a very reasonable cost… it can be a little difficult to find but absolutely worth it….

The rooms and common area are very lovely and clean, worth booking this place for that reason alone but a few things to note if you’re a traveler: they do not actually have a reception that is staffed like the listing says. Our flight was delayed so we arrived around 5pm instead of 3pm like we thought we would and they made a pretty big deal about us being late and how inconvenient it was for them and how we should have messaged (mind you we were traveling and I don’t have service in Italy), we then ended up waiting outside for about 30mins to get in because no one was there to let us in and they were not responding to messages or calls. They also said because we came “late” (the site says check in is u til 7:30, we got there at 5) we needed to wait until 10am to check out so we could meet someone then to pay the tax, so we did and no one ever arrived. We also asked in advance if we would be able to store our bags the next day while we walked around and they said yes but when we were ready to checkout at 10am like they said, no one arrived to tell us how to get back in (you need two separate keys to get into the building) so we had to drag our bags with us which is horrible - if we had known this we would have canceled and booked another hotel with a real reception. But aside from the poor service, the rooms were lovely, clean, and it’s a nice area. 30min walk from the train station so make sure you have stored your bags or don’t have much to carry.

Dear AllisonThis is very bad to see your false review but we would like to talk about it.To start, we are a guesthouse,and we usually move between 2 properties, so, of course,as we informed you,we need to be informed if a delay happen.You did not!We still made no big deal and let you in from the phone app since we were already busy with other guests.For the next day, you never asked for a free luggages deposit and we have the Whatsapp chat!You said you were just waiting to pay the city tax so since the staff had a little delay we told you just to leave it in the room, and you left american dollars which is not ok in Italy!If you asked at 10 AM to our Whatsapp how to do the free luggages deposit, we would've told you to keep the key for the street gate and gave you the code for the second door, but,as we repeat, you never did !We are sorry that you try to book a guesthouse and find Hotel services, because this is a guesthouse of 5 rooms and we cannot reallyThanks a lot again for staying with us anywayRegards

Had a really great stay here Good location. Half an hour walk from both Vatican and Colosseum. Across the road from old Trastevere so NO noise at night👍 Famous pizzeria literally next door and great cafe down the road for breakfast

Ask if the front door lock fixed
My room was noisy but dealable. It faced the street. It was charming and clean. There is an elevator. The front door lock was a pain to open. There is a nearby gelato shop.

Nicely decorated but it ended there! This isn’t a hotel as indicated by Expedia. It’s a small apartment converted to guest rooms. There’s no signage and difficult to find. The only indication you’re in the right location is a 2cm paper label on the door buzzer. My friend is with local police and even he had trouble finding the property. They required an arranged check-in time before arrival then failed to show up. We had to call and text several times and waited 45 minutes before a staff member finally appeared to let us in. The “reception area” desk was located 1 meter from my assigned room door. The room entrance has an immediate step down without any warning so my first greeting was a sprained ankle. The air conditioner has no adjustment, on or off, your choice. There wasn’t s any blanket for the bed only a thin sheet. So, you can choose to open the window and sweat in the July heat of Rome or turn the air on and shiver under the sheet at night. The mattress is memory foam and uncomfortable from hot spots with the air conditioner off. The bathroom smelled horrible like sewage. The rain shower didn’t work so only the hand wand was functional which is always fun washing your hair. At least there was plenty of hot water. The tram passes the building on the street below that causes a harmonic buzzing in the walls like some hideous bass speakers from a amplified car stereo every 10 minutes. Expect a wake-up vibrator at 5am to start your day. Never again!

The person at the reception was amazing. Due to a death in the family I had to make a quick reservation the night before only to find out that unfortunately I made it made it for the following day. He was very helpful! Called Hotels.come to see if they could help me move to another facility bc I already paid BUY Hotels.com was very unfriendly and did not care. So He helped me make a brand new reservation thru another. I ll stay away from Hotels.com The place has an elevator air cond and is impeccable. Too bad they were sold out the night I needed.

Staff were lovley and friendly. Room very spacious, clean and comfortable with large bathroom. Only challenges were finding the place and check-in and check-out times slightly limiting. Would recommend though.

The Trastevere Royal Suite is a small family run hotel (5 rooms). It is well located and very reasonably priced. The management is very helpful for our tourist questions. My only complaint is that the television had no English channels. However, it did have Netflix easily available.

Royce who was our contact, was very nice and helpful. No one is at the desk after 7:30 p.m. I realize the building is old, but there is an odour and very strong odour in the halls. I also understand not changing towels daily, but maybe could be every other day rather than 3 days. I was ill while in Rome and sometimes had to leave my room later in the day. The bed was not made a couple days. I wish the sheets had been changed once. The toiletries are minimal. Tiniest piece of soap to wash with. Had to ask for toilet paper a couple times. The location was great!

We would like to clarify some things: we are sorry but we don't have a 24h reception because it's not a hotel. We are sorry that you smell a strong odour in the halls of the building but of course that is already outside of our property. We are sorry that your room had not been clean a couple of days, but as you said you had to leave the room late those days, we have rules and a time table to follow. After 2pm the house keeping service is over. It has been decided to change the sheets every 3 days to become more environmental friendly. The minimal size of the toiletries has the purpouse of cutting off the unecessary waste. We put the amount that we think is necessary, but of course you could have just asked if you needed more. The pictures give an impression of large, airy rooms, while in actual fact they are not. This is an average apartment that has been refurbished and each room has been made into a hotel room. Not much of a ‘royal suite’

Lovely experience for a 3 day break in Rome. Central Rome is about 15 mins walk away! The staff were attentive and very friendly! Couldn’t help more! Loads of great restaurants around Trastevere which is a must see place anyway! Highly recommend!

The room was beautiful. We were only there for a short time but I would have been very happy to stay longer. I slept almost 12 hours in the comfortable bed after 10 days of traveling around Italy and woke up feeling great. The employee that checked us in was very helpful and friendly, and we found the location to be very convenient, right next to the tram. Check in was easy and efficient.

We enjoyed this cozy little inn on our first night in Rome.The bed was super comfortable, the amenities perfect and the staff super helpful! They even gave us a great recommendation on a nearby lunch spot.

Nice place in great local neighborhood
Trastevere royal suite is in a great neighborhood . When we checked in we first met davida the manager . He was fantastic with a smooth check in. The rooms are extremely clean and absolutely beautiful . The bathrooms are roomy and beautiful . The one drawback was the free breakfast was 1 block away in a local restaurant . The royal suite has a great location with washers and dryers 1 block away and a nice local restaurant across the street. Great hotel ... Nice and very helpfull manager... Extremely clean and beautiful hotel ...
