We were able to enjoy our stay in the area in spite of, not because of, this property. The cottage is deplorable. It is dilapidated, dated, and dirty. It appears to have significant structural problems as the first and second floors sag in the middle and there are cracks evident on the walls. Mold appeared to be present on the bottom of the first floor doors. The house has not been updated in decades. It smelled musty. The shower is a tiny stall. The floors were dirty, as was most of the rest of the cottage. There were ants in the kitchen. Many of the boards on the dock are rotten and had nails popping up, so I was concerned about having my 6 and 8-year-old children walk down it unassisted and even I was concerned about falling through the boards. The cottage may be acceptable for a group of men who just want a place to sleep after fishing all day, but it was not appropriate for a family. I did have some concerns after reading prior comments, but decided to give it a try after having to cancel another trip due to Covid and not having a large selection due to the late notice. The listing does not accurately reflect the poor condition of the cottage and it was not worth the price. There were some positive aspects. The owner did communicate when needed and seemed pleasant although we did not meet him. (We learned that he owns the house next door. We were able to see him on his dock on a few occasions where he was able to observe us during the stay.) There was nice access to the lake for swimming, a small bonfire area, the weather was beautiful, and the neighbors were wonderful. We had family in New York who met and visited with us there for a day. We were able to spend most of our time visiting the local parks and wineries, and the kids are young enough that they did not care as much about where we stayed, so the trip overall was fun despite the accommodations. We will not return to this property.
