The sound of the creek was the best. The outside deck had lots of comfortable chairs to sit and listen to the sound of the river.Very clean house and private.

Everything was as described in listing. Beautiful property both inside and out. My family & I enjoyed the stay. Water was a little cool for us in September but our pup thoroughly enjoyed the river as well. The sound of the running water is very peaceful. The only suggestion I would make is adding a television in the master suite (personal preference) and add a few more towels & wash cloths. Great home. I highly recommend.

Peaceful location!

We loved our visit to the mountains! The house was wonderful and we enjoyed playing on the river or just hearing it while we enjoyed coffee or roasting marshmallows. It was a peaceful getaway for the family.

Very quiet, relaxing, peaceful. Small Kitchen, but well stocked. All appliances worked well. Good selection of bowls, cutting boards, sharp knives, pots and pans. We cooked in five evenings. I would definitely stay here again.

Unique house and location - gorgeous property

My friends and I loved this house and property. It was bigger than expected and the 5 total bedrooms were perfect to fit everyone. It’s right by a beautiful creek and it’s lovely to hear all times of the day. You can tell the hosts care about the property because it was well stocked with various things and has all sorts of items to do/play/use while staying there. I love the decorations in the house as well. It was unique and had lots of personality. I would love to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful property located on the Piney River. Home has all the conveniences needed to make your stay enjoyable. This was our second stay here and we plan to return again in the future. Only recommendation would be to update the pots and pans provided in the cabin. They have been well used. Do not change anything else!!

Birthday At The River House

This was our fourth trip to the river house. This time we went to celebrate my granddaughter who turned 13 and my daughter who turned 30. It was a wonderful week full of fun, adventure, hiking, swimming/playing in the river, s’mores, food and games. This is the absolute best place in the world for quality family time. This place really feels like home. 🥰

Wonderful home in a beautiful setting! Very comfortable beds and excellent amenities. Pleased that there’s wi-if now! Wish there is a better solution for trash disposal, as we had a hard time finding the dump and it was closed, even though the sign said it should be open. We had a great time and plan on returning for a 5th stay.

Relaxing River Retreat

We absolutely loved our stay along the Piney River! Reading on the hammock, enjoying a family meal on the deck and roasting marshmallow by the fire all with the sound of the babbling river made for a truly relaxing and enjoyable weekend

Slice of Heaven

This property is everything the owners claim it is! The house is extremely thoughtfully laid out, fully stocked with just about anything you could need and the location!! The deck with the multiple one-step terraces, the babbling stream, the lovely trees and rhododendrons, just perfect. We so enjoyed getting away and just relaxing, sitting outside watching the water, inside watching movies - the perfect get away. Cannot wait to do it again next Spring!

Lovely home with cleaning issues

Lovely location and home with comfortable beds. But very dirty on arrival-- muddy paw prints on interior doors maybe from the last guest's dog, pubic hair in showers, refrigerator filthy with enough dried on food spillage that the condiments left by previous guests were stuck in place. Kitchen drawers and cabinets had crumbs and stuck on food. Droppings in kitchen under sink and in corners. At one point, removed sofa cushion looking for misplaced remote and found popcorn, dried out candy, food wrappers and dirt. Judging from other reviews, this wasn't typical, so you may have better luck.

Mountain Getaway

The property was perfect, definitely as listed, well cared for, secluded and serene. Kitchen had all accessories needed for a variety of meals. The river has a very small rapid in front of the house providing great river sound. It is in the mountains, no cell service and grocery store 20 minutes away, bring everything with you. There is WiFi and a Keurig. My family group included a 12-yr old and 6 yr old twins. We did not leave the property, (other than hiking) and the kids were outside more than 6 hours every day. The property was a place of discovery for them, river in front, hills to climb behind and finding the ceramic forest friends the owners have hiding around the property. Fire pit and s'mores. It was fall and the foliage was great! Introduced the kids to wax paper leaf ironing.

In the pines, on the piney river

This lovely little cottage on the piney river was the perfect place to celebrate 35 years of marriage. The setting was beautiful and the accommodations spacious yet intimate. The cottage demonstrates an obvious history of love and good memories. We fished the section of river assigned and got skunked. The beauty of the setting was more than compensation for this disappointment. The owners have set up a welcoming, warm and friendly vibe that made it a pleasure to stay at Sycamore Shade. We would like to return!
