We stay at this cottage for 4 nights and I'd give it a better rating except for the poor quality mattress and the fact that I needed to do some cleaning when we got there. As a result of the thin and saggy mattress we didn't sleep well at all while we were there. The linens were also less than adequate, mismatched, old sheets and worn towels. The cottage was also very dusty, crumbs on the kitchen counter, a dirty cooktop, the bathtub needed to be cleaned before we used it. There was also a smell of fuel in the living area that we traced to the fire starters left for the wood-stove. Once we put them in a zip-lock, the smell disappeared so not a big deal but the management should be paying closer attention to details like that to ensure a comfortable stay for their guests. The housekeeper let us in to the unit and seemed very friendly and I would have called her to come over to clean if it had only been 1 or 2 issues but seeing that the entire cottage needed to be cleaned, I didn't call her, we were exhausted and didn't want to deal with someone coming over to clean what they obviously missed before.
If the cottage had been clean I would give it a 5 star review. Its in a charming village, off the beaten path so just what we were looking for. The kitchen was very well appointed. Friendly people, a few great pubs and beautiful scenery. There's lots of music in the pubs in the summer but only on Sunday night in the off season which is something I wish I'd known. We had really good pub food and could walk home after a few pints.
There's some nice walking in the area and there's a local guidebook that you can buy at the village hotel. It came in very handy.
It's right across from the harbor, on the main road into the village so be prepared for some traffic noise in the early morning.
