A quirky holiday home with a wonderful view

The troglodyte house was exactly as described - made from a cave set in teh side of a hill. It was comfortable and well furnished, and we received a very warm welcome from the owners. The balcony with its view over Saint Chamas was the best part. The house is well situated for exploring Provence but if you're hiring a car, don't choose anything too big - the lanes leading to the property are narrow and the parking is best-suited to a small-medium car!

Fantastic Property in gorgeous location!!

The hosts were absolutely lovely despite the language barrier tried to assist with any questions. Our 12 year old son slept in the double bed that folds down. He found this very comfortable! We slept in the larger double both beds were super comfy. There are also two bunk beds in a tiny space for two more kids which cute & cosy! The property is lovely & clean & well equipped. I would say that asking about closing & opening times for everything nearby is worth doing. There is a market close by on a Saturday morning. There’s a lovely bakery you can walk down to with delicious croissants etc. it does get quite warm inside but we found by opening the doors at both ends & hooking them open to stop them slamming shut created a good draft. There’s a little beach with lifeguards you can walk down to this has lifeguards until 6pm.there are jellyfish but we were were reassured by the lifeguards they are harmless. Some good restaurants close by just check opening times. There are all towels provided including beach towels. If you like coffee it might be worth taking your own instant but there is a brilliant Lidl a short drive away! The view from this property is breath taking & the balcony is perfect for chilling. We used the little bbq provided. We will be going back we loved it here!! We flew to Marseille airport & drove a hire car which takes about half an hour to this property & there is parking right outside.Thank you for a wonderful relaxing stay!

Hello from Texas

We stayed for 10 days and enjoyed the accommodations and small town atmosphere tremendously. What an amazing experience, you can explore the entire Provence area from this central location and we certainly took advantage. Marseille, Aix, Salon, Avignon, Arles and the villages of Luberon are all within 30-45 minutes by rental car. It was fun driving the round-a-bouts, visting vineyards, partying in Salon with soccer fans and visiting ancient Roman theaters, bridges and aqueducts. A small car is vital for parking and managing the narrow alleys. The hosts are the nicest people, it felt like we were family. We spoke no French, but it didn't matter, they showed us how to use all that we needed. The written communication before the stay was in both French and English and was very clear, so we had no worries. The view from the terrace was incredible! We were lucky to have great weather in late November, highs in the 50's and 60's, so it was nice relaxing on the terrace. Everything you need is within walking distance, such as a grocery, bakery, cafe, tourist office, including restaurants, ATM, shops, walking trails, and even a small beautiful museum. It was offseason, so sometimes things closed more often, but we had no troubles finding food and things to do. The locals we came across were so very friendly, hardly anyone knew English (or Spanish), but we had fun trying to communicate, eventually I was being greeted at the bakery and grocery store like a local and even the bar tender knew exactly how I liked my morning double-sized coffee "to go" without having to ask. Just loved our whole experience. My only regret was not seeing the many local farmer's markets and not going to Le Champs de Mars Restaurant sooner, we went there on our last day and I think they had the best food at good prices, the owner David spoke a little English and it felt like we were friends after only one meeting.

Een week van rust in bijzondere omgeving.

Wat een bijzonder huis, liefdevol ingericht en gedecoreerd, gezellige zitjes en eethoeken, heel groot bed, prachtig uitzicht vanaf balkon waar we vaak zaten. Ook regelmatig de gezellige straatjes in, boodschappen, terrasjes enz. Mooie wandelingen gemaakt. Met de trein naar Arles en Avignon.Hartelijk dank aan Richard en Sylvette Ravel voor het hartelijk welkom, we voelden ons verwend en waren blij dat we in jullie huis mochten zijn deze mooie week.

Einzigartige Unterkunft und tolle Gastgeber

Unser Urlaub war Dank der überaus netten Gastgeber und der wunderschönen Unterkunft ein voller Erfolg. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die wunderschöne Terrasse, auf der wir viele Abende und die tolle Aussicht genossen haben. Der Ort ist ebenfalls sehr nett, man findet dort gute Bücker und einen kleinen Supermarkt. Wir würden jederzeit nochmal hinfahren und können die Wohnung nur empfehlen.

Ein besonderes Erlebnis im Felsen und liebe Gastgeber

Diese Unterkunft ist wirklich einzigartig und auch wenn es draußen warm ist, bleibt es innen kühl. Die Wohnung ist liebevoll ausgestattet und es hat uns nichts gefehlt. Die Lage ist gut für Ausflüge in die Provence und Erholen auf dem Balkon. Die Gastgeber wohnen in einem Ort in der Umgebung, organisieren aber die Ankunft sehr gut. Geparkt wird gegenüber beim freundlichen Nachbarn und der Bäcker ist 5 min entfernt die Treppe hinunter. Die Betten waren wirklich groß und bequem für zwei und das Klappbett nutzte unsere große Tochter und war zufrieden. Wir waren begeistert und würden hier wieder wohnen, wenn wir in die Gegend kommen.

Vacances très agréable dans un logement insolite et super agréable. Accueilli par des hôtes super charmant et très sympathique, disponible si besoin. Logement très bien aménagé avec une vue imprenable sur le port et la baie. Je le recommande sans hésitation.

Ein wunderschöner Urlaub

Es war ein wunderschöner Urlaub in einem malerischen kleinen Ort mit vielen netten Menschen. Das Felsenhaus hat einen unvergleichlichen Charme. Sehr hübsch eingerichtet mit einer Aussicht die unbezahlbar ist. Sehr herzliche Gastgeber, sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit bei einem kleinen medizinischen Notfall während des Aufenthalts. Es waren unvergessliche 14 Tage ☺️

Traumurlaub

Wir haben uns in der Ferienwohnung sehr wohl gefühlt. Es war alles vorhanden und auch sehr liebe- und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Der Ausblick war der Hammer :) Alles ist fußläufig zu erreichen und man hat eine gute Bahnverbindung in nahe gelegene Großstädte. Alles in allem ein gelungener Urlaub mit viel Ruhe und Erholung. Zauberhafte Unterkunft

Die Unterkunft ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet. Die Lage ist einzigartig, der Blick fantastisch, durch die "Höhlenlage" sehr angenehm temperiert. Die Vermieter sind waren sehr freundlich und angenehm. Wir haben den Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen. Das Städtchen ist sehr charmant, jedoch etwas verschlafen. Wir waren gefühlt die einzigen Touristen dort, entsprechend ist die "touristische" Infrastruktur nicht/kaum vorhanden. Wir fanden es genial. Vielen Dank an Sylvette und Richard

Einzigartig Tolle Gastgeber

Tolle Höhle.. wirklich spannend in so einem Objekt seine Ferien verbringen zu dürfen. Es ist alles vorhanden was man für 2 Personen braucht. Der Blick von der Terasse ist schon einzigartig und selbst in der dunkelsten Jahreszeit hat man dort von 13-17Uhr Sonne. Eine kleine Anmerkung es gibt nur ein Schlafzimmer für Erwachsene (in der Beschreibung liest man dass es deren 2 gibt). Somit ist das Haus aus meiner Sicht nur für eine Familie mit kleinen Kindern geeignet. Wir planen wiederzukommen. A bientôt Sylvette und Richard

Interssante Unterkunft

Zu Südfrankreich muss ich an dieser Stelle nichts sagen. St Chamas ist ein kleiner Ort mit Charme und einigen landschaftlichen und historischen Besonderheiten. Zu den landschaftlichen Besonderheiten gehört eine Sandsteinklippe, die Mitten im Ort aus dem Boden ragt. In diesen Felsen ist die Fereienwohnung "hineingearbeitet" worden. Es ist also eine Felsenwohnung. Das solte man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Man hat einen atemberaubenden Ausblick auf den See. Im Sommer bleibt es kühl. Die Wohnung ist nicht riesig und die Schlafbereiche sind nicht völlig getrennt. Deswegen sollte man sich gut verstehen. Für Familien ist das aber kein Problem. Die Vermieter sind ausgesprochen nett und hilfsbereit. An-und Abreise waren absolut unproblematisch.

Die super Höhle 😁

Der Empfang war offen und sehr freundlich. Wir genossen die liebevolle eingerichtete, angenehme Höhle. Die konstante, kühlenden Temperatur war hervorragend. Ein einmaliges Ferienerlebnis, mit Kulturellen, bequemen erreichbaren Besuchen.

Höhlenfeeling vom feinsten

Die Unterkunft ist perfekt ! Sie besitzt eine natürliche Klimaanlage durch den Berg und der Ausblick vom Balkon ist fantastisch. Unsere Vermieter waren die besten, die man sich vorstellen kann ; hilfsbereit und super nett. Das war ein klasse Urlaub dort! Im Dorf findet man alles was man braucht , auch schöne Restaurants von günstig bis teuer. Was will man mehr !

Liebevoll und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, alles Nötige vorhanden und mehr. Urgemütlich, geräumig .

Beste Gastgeber "ever": herzlich, großzügig, verständnisvoll, hilfsbereit, verlässlich - wir wurden empfangen wie Freunde und alles war liebevoll vorbereitet, es war als käme man "nach Hause". Von der ersten Sekunde an haben wir uns wohl gefühlt und jede Minute genossen. Nur schweren Herzens haben wir nach einer Woche von dieser urgemütlichen, geräumigen und himmlisch ruhigen Wohnung Abschied genommmen. Vor allem den Balkon mit Abendsonne und den Blick aufs Wasser werden wir nie vergessen. In St Chamas gibt es alles was man braucht, inkulsive einem herrlichen Wochenmarkt am Samstag. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge und netter Ort zum verweilen, spazieren. Die Betten sind bequem und das Doppelbett auch riesig. Die Stockbetten dafür etwas schmal und eher für Kinder oder schlanker Personen bis 1,80cm geeignet. Ein Klappbett gibt es zusärzlich, dass ebenfalls sehr bequem ist. Wir hoffen, dass wir bald noch einmal und dann möglichst zwei Wochen dort verbringen können. Von Herzen Danken wirdem Ehepaar Ravel für ihre Gastfreundschaft und die vielen kleinen Extras, die diese Ferien zu etwas ganz Besonderem werden liesen.

geniale lage, besonders liebenswürdige vermieter

Die terasse im fels ist etwas ganz besonderes. Auch der rest der wohnung ist schön und mit liebe zum detail eingerichtet. Saint chamas ist eine ideale ausgangsbasis für das erkunden der provence. Also: 5 sterne mit zusatzstern!
