Easy & Convenient San Diego Stay
We enjoyed everything about this property. Host thought of every detail and amenity we could possibly need, and accommodations were clean and comfortable. Beds are especially comfortable! The property is exactly as the pictures illustrate and the location is convenient. The first 2 nights, we encountered parking difficulties because the road was being repaired and we were required to move our vehicle before 8:00 a.m. FYI, it was approximately $10-15 for an UBER home from the Gaslight/Old Town areas. John was accessible when we were unable to access the internet and promptly and had it up in running for us quickly. We were pleased with the property and would recommend it to friends.

Great Stay!
We had previously booked this place before and when we saw that it was available we knew that we wanted to stay here again. The check in process was easy and we got lucky with the parking this time as well. Normally when parking, depending on when you arrive you could be searching for a bit. The house was clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. On one of the days the keypad stopped accepting our code and I had to call the owner to assist. He was very helpful and was able to fix the situation right away with no inconvenience to us. Overall, this place was perfect for our stay, communication was great and the host is wonderful.

Soccer tournament visit
This property was located in the perfect spot for our soccer tournament in Coronado and our visit to Padres stadium! The unit met our needs. Parking was the only downside, but generally speaking we found parking on the side street and entered at rear of property, which wasn’t a problem. Beds were comfy and shower had amazing water pressure. I would stay again.

Comic Con stay
Property is about a mile away from the San Diego Convention Center, an easy morning walk. Clean and amenities were abundant. Property owner is very responsive and helpful. Quarters for the onsite laundry room is awesome. Neighborhood is a little gritty and might be a little off-putting for some, but did not feel unsafe at all.

Our family stayed for 3 nights and we enjoyed being at this property! John made sure our stay was comfortable and we had everything we needed. He provided a pack and play and high chair for my littlest, it was very much appreciated! Parking near the house was a little sparse, depending on the time of day we came back. Overall, an excellent place for our small family to rest after a busy day out and about exploring San Diego.

This house was a great find for our family vacation. There were five of us total, including 3 teenagers and it was a snug but cozy fit with the two bedrooms and pullout couch. The location was within 20 minutes of all the spots we visited while in SD - Coronado Island, Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs, La Jolla Cove, Petco stadium - and we had no problem finding street parking either across the street or around the corner. The covered patio area was lovely in the morning and in the evenings with the fireplace. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with all the amenities we needed. Communication with John was great when I was having trouble finding our check-in document and when my daughter left her necklace at the house after we had already checked out. The only thing that would have made this house perfect would have been a dishwasher, but I would still rent this place again!

Wonderful stay
We had an excellent stay at Grant Hill. Accomodations were spotless and very comfortable. Location was very convenient to Balboa Park, Coronado and downtown. Communication with John was excellent from booking to checkout. He was very responsive and helpful. Finally street parking was never a problem.

We had a great time during our stay. The location had easy access to the interstate. Parking was not always available in front of the property but we were able to park nearby at different times of the day. The living areas were neat and it was handy having all the dishes and utensils to cook. The grill was a bit dirty/rusty probably from previous guests. We had 4 people in our party and there were only 3 chairs and beach towels available, but we made it work. The owners sent important information about the property and were available for any needs. We would stay here again!

34 day review of my VRBO rental
property was clean and best in the neighborhood. The problem I had was parking. During my 34 day stay I only got to park close a few times. Most of the time I was between 200 to 400 feet away. I biggest issue I had was this. During my stay, the owner had a remodeling project going on. Replaced partial roof among many other repairs. I was not advised ahead of time. This went on the whole time I was there, except on weekends. Had I known every week day there would be two workers there making noise, I would not have stayed there. Every day, starting a 8 A.M. the projects started. I would have expected that any considerate owner would have advised of this issue ahead of time. I was severely disappointed in his lack of notice regarding the projects and would not recommend staying at this property. Although the owner was polite, pleasant and communicative, I was not pleased at all with what I call, " deceptive behavior".

This review was shocking to us as we spoke repetitively with this Guest and there was never a hint of dissatisfaction. To the contrary, he seemed to be enjoying the stay a great deal. The construction was completely unplanned as a small leak was discovered in a roof which ended up requiring the replacement of a sizable portion of the rear upper portion, located 2 floors above this unit. This was an emergency situation as a big storm was expected to hit Southern California. Had we been even remotely aware that this Guest was unhappy in any way, we would gladly have allowed him to leave with a full refund.

Great California home, divided into several rental units. #6 was clean and well laid out with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and kitchen/living room area. Perfect for a quick weekend. Well stocked and clean. Comfy beds, and nice bathroom. Has A/C window units, which worked well.

Location location location. One problem, the property is located next to The Addams family's house.
The location of this property is wonderful, you are very close to great restaurants, the freeway and many San Diego attractions. The interior of this rental is very good nice beds very clean and it has all the amenities that you could want. If you are looking for a place to sit outside and relax this is not the place for you, if you just are looking for a place to stay and to sleep this place works just fine. Unfortunately, this property is located next door to what appears to be a abandoned house that was owned by The Addams family. You will receive a letter approximately a day or two before your arrival letting you know about the house next door, and that they have offered to have the house painted for free but the offer has been declined. To be honest with you all the only thing that appears to be holding up this house is the current paint that's on it, multiple windows are broken and the glass has been replaced with cardboard. There is also a problem with parking which appears to be an epidemic in San Diego, one evening I had to park three blocks from the rental which really sucked as I had been out walking all day already. Like I said if you're looking for a place that is comfortable to sleep at then I would recommend this place, if you are looking for a place to hang out outside this is not the place for you.

We have known our neighbors for over 30 years and they are a kind hearted, hard working family that for some reason has an aversion to painting their house. Recently a window broke and for unknown reasons they put cardboard in its place. We are going to have our staff offer to replace it this week. Everyone is of course entitle to their opinions, but it is important to convey that we have had countless Guest staying at our property over the years with no concerns about the neighbors house.

Amazing vacation
Where do I start? What's not to love. This place was great in every aspect. The location was close to everything we went too. Easy to navigate to and from. The communication with the owners was phenomenal. They were willing to answer and and all questions very quickly. They checked on us during our stay to see how we were doing. Prices were very affordable. We have a family of 6 and it fit us just perfect. Loved that I didn't need to pack body wash or shampoo and conditioner. Tjey really did think of every amenity we needed. Made us feel like we were at home. The only suggestion I would make would maybe be a shoe box or container outside the door. I didn't love just leaving my shoes outside but it was a minor detail. The kids loved using the boogie board at the beach thanks do much for that. Was so nice to be able to do laundry as well. If we ever come back to San Diego we would definitely stay here again. Wonderful place!!!

No shoes but couldn’t/wouldn’t leave outside due to not knowing if they would be there later. Broken screen door so couldn’t let air in; very stuffy in unit; could use deep cleaning. Not suitable for four due to only one couch to sit in that fit 3; disappointing.

We respect our Guest's opinions and rarely feel the need to respond as the vast majority of our reviews over the course of 7 years have been excellent, but in this case we feel it is warranted. Our property is located on the slope in an historic district above Downtown San Diego and we have no idea why these Guests were unhappy with our location as that has not been the case with previous Guests. In the nearly 30 years we have owned this property, we have never failed to find a parking space and neither we nor our Guests have ever experienced any crime related issues. We stay in touch with our Guests during their stay and encourage them to convey any issues of concern as we have a full time repair staff available. We were unaware of an issue with the screen door, but had we been notified it would have been addressed immediately. There are 3 air conditioners in this unit along with multiple windows which would normally alleviate any stuffiness that might have been encountered. We assume that these Guests were not happy with our request to remove shoes prior to entering the unit, but most of our Guests appreciate this practice as well as the cleanliness of our units.

Lovely property and great central location!
This was a perfect place to get away to visit the Grand in San Diego! It was clean and quiet with plenty of parking. The kitchen was well appointed, with all the utensils we needed. There is a great little bike shop across the street, and we rented bikes and rode down and around Coronado Island. The owner was responsive and helpful!

Location not destination
I stayed at this VRBO location due to the proximity of the freeway and access to the bridge to Coronado. If I was looking for a Destiination place as a vacation spot in San Diego this would not be it. However, the house is remodeled and clean and I felt safe. The owners are extremely accommodating and very responsive sometimes within minutes of any type of question or request. Excellent owner. Excellent customer service and a clean, well stocked location. There are multiple units in the house which isn’t clear. We were in unit number six which is around the back and actually under what would be the main level accessed from the front stairs. It looks like from the photos that you have a view of the bridge and the front porch but that is for the units at the front of the house.

Nice walk to downtown
We were here for a conference at the conference center. We enjoyed the half hour walk to the meetings every morning. The unit was very comfortable and clean - I only wish we could have spent more time here. The manager was very prompt when notified of an issue with the shower. Given another San Diego conference, we would be happy to stay here.

Clean place to stay. The beds were comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen right down to different types of seasoning. All toiletries were provided. Me Reardon Has a Made it as homelike as possible. He checks in to make sure all is well and even provides tourist info upon request. We would most definitely stay here again if we found ourselves back in area!

Property exactly as defined in Property ID. The location was excellent and John a great communicator. He addressed all of our needs almost immediately. The only reason that four stars were given in three sections is that John was in the process of upgrading another unit and back yard. He adjusted the rent accordingly. Parking was easy. Bus lines available. Overall, a wonderful place to stay. Thanks to John and his staff.

Charming Victorian in Beautiful San Diego
I cant say enough about this beautiful rental. John takes great pride in hospitality and it shows in the unit as well as the property. He has gone to great lengths to ensure each guest feels comfortable in their home away from home. All you really need to do is show up with your clothes and personal comforts. Everything else is provided. The week leading up to check in John checks in via email and continues to check in throughout your stay. Very easy to get a hold of. I would highly recommend this rental. I have mentioned to all my family and friends and we will definitely be back whenever we are in San Diego.

Solid Stay
This was our first time to SD and we were there for a soccer tournament being played in Del Mar. We (husband, 2 sons and myself) wanted to stay downtown due to the attractions we wanted to experience while there. Leading up to our stay, John was very quick to reply to any questions or concerns I had. Shortly before our arrival, he sent a very thorough Welcome Letter as well as a follow up email explaining the location. It was all very helpful. The unit is in the back of the building which made for a very quiet stay without disturbance. I was thankful to not be disturbed during sleep. My husband slept so well, he took a picture of the mattress label. (He travels a lot for work, so he was definitely impressed-as well as surprised to see how practical the mattress was.) The owners have taken great strides to make this unit comfortable, clean, attractive, enjoyable and very hospitable. The only thing I was missing, was a coffee table (or the like). The location of the unit was crazy convenient to everything we wanted to do (Padres game, Zoo, USD, Beach, Airport, The Harbor, Coronado, Old Town, Gaslamp Qtr., Grocery options in the Hillcrest area, etc.) but most importantly, it was soooo easy to jump on the Interstate to head North to Del Mar and La Jolla. With any major downtown area, you're going to have opportunities that present a need for awareness. Could my husband and oldest son have walked home from the Padres game at night, sure....was I 100% comfortable with it? no. Was it oh so convenient to hop in the car and go get them one mile away? YES! You get what I'm saying. Oh! The laundry...it's a community laundry room for the units in this house only. Best part, it never got used (at least to my knowledge) except by us. It wouldn't have mattered if it had, because again, our unit was very private. But the accessibility to the laundry room was fantastic! One other thing that I really loved was that we could leave any reasonably desirable store bought foods that we didn't completely consume. Meaning, I didn't have to throw out a perfectly good half loaf of bread, or 4 eggs, etc. Usually, I would gather these items and present them to a homeless person, but that has been a hit or miss in the past. I was thankful that the cleaning crew would determine if they could benefit from what we couldn't finish. It was a win/win! It was a great place to stay, super cute, crazy convenient, and wonderful hosts. Book with confidence!

We had a wonderful stay at Grant Hill. The apartment has been well thought out and is super clean with everything new. John helped us with our issues with the TVs, which are brand new. We had trouble getting Netflix but John attempted to help us even though he was in a serious accident when we called. Suggest more explicit instructions for future guests. We parked our car in front and took Uber everywhere. It is on the edge of Balboa park. A great stay.
