GREAT PLACE TO STAY!
My husband &I really enjoyed this old town casita! It’s just around the corner to the “hop on, hop off” bus that we used to see & visit some major sights in San Diego (without the hassle & costs of parking). The place itself is also cute, clean, comfortable, & was one of the most “well stocked” for kitchen & bathroom items. With great commication with the owner Steve, we give this place an easy “5” stars!

Great Casita
Everything was just perfect for our mini vacation. Location was great being one street over from Old Town. Easy access to freeways and walk to the trolley station. Off street parking was a plus.

Excellect Location and Great Apartment
This rental was perfect! Close to Old Town and the Transit Center. Lots of room and everything was clearly explained. Nice area outside to sit with coffee and another area for outdoor eating with a grill. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and more. The host was great sending us directions/maps to groceries and information on tours. We are definitely staying here again. Thanks!

Great vacation, awesome host!
Needed to get some serious down time and found this cute little gem in Old Town. With such a great location we found it very easy to access transit/train. Steve was on site when we arrived and throughout our stay was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had about the place or things to do in San Diego. Highly recommended!! Thank you for being such a great host!

Victims of Double Booking error
90% of this 1 Star review regards our experience with the VRBO host owner. Worst VRBO nightmare…our months ahead, paid for 5 night reservation, was “lost” by host and our first night was double booked. Next, chaos from inability to reach the host (he was out of the country). VRBO had our reservation correct, but couldn’t tell us why the property was double booked. VRBO couldn’t reach the host. We and VRBO had no knowledge of host’s son being a contact. A neighbor told us to call the son. The son’s help was overshadowed by his words to my husband and I…“Why should I help you, if you’re just going to give my dad a bad review anyway.” The son did say “dad is old school” and nothing online at all, just a home paper calendar. No web access! Owner finally communicated with us by email, his curt reply to me was ”You are welcome to a full refund” Future emails to my husband included excuses (it’s $65 to make a phone call from our ship). We needed a simple phone call, not hiding with emails and blaming VRBO. Two vacation days were ruined even after VRBO found us a hotel. The casita location is great, place was clean. Some amenities below expectations. The pullout couch is uncomfortable. The Wi-Fi service was sketchy which impacted the Roku TV. In past reviews, people made improvement comments, but the host was immediately defensive…that’s unprofessional. We fully expect that to happen here. Several avoidable mistakes were made by host owner.

Fantastic rental. The host Steve was communicative and very helpful. The casita was clean, with instructions and other helpful information easily accessible. Great location close to public transportation. Highly recommend! Would happily stay here again.

Great Casita, Great city
Our host was indeed a SuperHost, both before and throughout our visit. The location of the property was perfect for exploring historic Old Town, and being near the transport hub, we were able to use the excellent San Diego metro system of busses, trolleys and trains As we were there for a month we were able to explore much of San Diego, and with so much to see and do we could have stayed longer

A great base
We loved the location being close to the park and a transportation hub. The cottage itself was a little like stepping back in time with original fixtures and vibe. When staying more than a few days it was so good to be able to make some of our meals at home, and wander down the street to the local restaurants for others. I’d stay here again.

A merry little place to celebrate!
My husband and I stayed in this cute little Casita for nine nights! We were in San Diego to celebrate our 35th anniversary and Christmas. The location was perfect and working with Steve was a pleasure. We highly recommend this place!

Superb Old Town Apartment
Echoing the other reviewers, we can't say enough nice things about this place. Great communication with the owner before, during and after the stay. Roomy and comfortable one-bedroom unit with kitchen. The owner seems to have thought about everything - spices for cooking, maps, toiletries and first aid supplies, even a Scotch tape dispenser! WiFi is good and cell service (at least with T-Mobile) is strong. There's a Roku TV with limited offerings, although we couldn't figure out how to watch local broadcast channels so we just ended using our laptop WiFi to stream from our cable provider at our home. The location can't be beat - walking distance to Old Town, at most one-third of a mile walk to the Old Town Transit Center which will take you nearly anywhere on public transit, and a safe neighborhood to walk at night. The heating system at night was a little noisy and woke us up at least once each night during our stay, but that's really our only minor complaint. We will gladly stay here again the next time we're in San Diego!

Perfect location, safe and clean
From the moment I booked Steve communicated with me offering information on things to do and best ways to get around. He quickly responded if I had a question. The location was across the street from Old Town San Diego, tons of restaurants and shops as well as transportation. Yet very quiet day and night if you want to relax in the home. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again if I'm ever back in the area..

Excellent property and location! Walking distance to dining and market for shopping. About 5 minutes or so to the beach 🏖️. The communication with Steve was easy and enjoyable. Best casita in Old Town!

Bonita Casita
This was our groups 2nd time staying at the casita and everything was as we remembered. Clean, quiet, well appointed, easy trolley access, and friendly, easy communication with the owners. This is our first choice for our annual friend reunion & we hope to be back soon!

Outstanding Location, Charming Casita
Primarily dealt with Steve as the property manager. Super responsive to our messages. The casita is cute and the perfect size for me and my husband though up to 4 guests can be accommodated, just a little cozier. But totally the thing we loved was the location. Walk right across the street to Old Town with restaurants and shopping. Close to the airport, the zoo and the trolley. Close to our family we came to visit. It’s winter so we really didn’t use the outdoor space but it’s super cute and totally would any other season. We loved this little place and you will too!

My husband thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Steve and Kathy's casita. Walking distance to delicious restaurants, golf, historic Old Town, & Heritage Park. The casita had everything we needed and is very well organized. A binder is in the home with information about the casita and surrounding area. Also lots of brochures of local attractions. Wow! This darling casita was perfect for our getaway vacation to see the many sights in the San Diego area. It was clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Our host, Steve, was always available for excursions and transportation info. We appreciated the close proximity to Old Town with the benefits of many good restaurants (mostly Mexican food, delicious) and the transit center. Hop-On Hop-Off Old Town Trolley to see the tourist sights, the metro trolley with stops throughout the city, and the Coaster for a short train ride to Oceanside to visit the pier and Mission San Luis Rey.

Old Town Charm
We returned for a second stay at Steve and Kathy's wonderful Casita. This time we brought along Frank's daughter and boyfriend. Steve made sure the sleeper sofa was ready for use and that we had plenty of towels. We had a great time and enjoy being in such a central location. So many great restaurants in walking distance not to mention the historical buildings all around you! It was the perfect home base for a weekend wedding reception.

Great Casita
This is our go to place when we travel to San Diego. The house is the perfect size for me and my husband. It is always clean with everything we need to cook if we decide to stay in. I love being right across from Old Town. There are so many great restaurants and shops there. Steve and Kathy are great and quick to respond to any needs.

Wonderful stay in the heart of Old Town San Diego
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the casita! It was a perfect home base for visiting family in the area. We had a wonderful dinner at Cafe Coyote and hiked to Presidio Park, all without getting in the car. Lots of special touches including luxurious towels, comfortable mattress and completely stocked kitchen and bathroom. We really enjoyed the private patio with BBQ and used it both evenings for safely gathering with family. We won't hesitate to book a future stay!

House was in the best area. Old town is really fun, and eveywhere we went was not farther than 10 minutes. Everything that you would need was provided also as a bonus ice trays! What a life saver. Patio was awesome and plants give you beautiful greenery to admire. Would stay here again for sure.

Great central location
We had a rocky start when we couldn’t get the electric door lock to unlatch. But the owner had someone come over within a half hour to let us in. So, after a short panic time, everything went pretty smoothly. The house is directly across the street from Old Town historical park and a short walk to the MTS station. We found it easy to get everywhere from there without a car. Beaches, LaJolla, Balboa Park, SeaWorld, Little Italy and Gaslamp District were all just a short hop on a bus or trolley. Plus, the owner let us borrow boogie boards for a trip to Mission Beach - a definite highlight!

Thanks for taking the time to leave us an honest review. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. We did give you a good review because you were great guests and are pleased that you had a good time overall. We do leave a door key for a back-up after your initial check-in which you initially had access to but then locked it inside. As you mentioned, we got someone to come and rescue you within 30 minutes after we were aware that you had a problem. You didn't mention that we rushed to get the Casita ready for you to check in 2 hours early and we thought perhaps that would have made up for a 30 minute inconvenience but you still gave us a lower overall rating. We will now have a back-up to the back-up for future guests that may lock themselves out.

Charming and convenient
The casita is really adorable and such a great location! We walked to so many interesting sights and there are great restaurants within walking distance too. Loved the secure parking and outdoor deck. Just two blocks to the hop-on/hop-off sight-seeing trolley. Many thoughtful touches at the casita. We loved it!

Cozy Casita with ideal location!
My wife and I enjoyed 2 days of downtime in this cozy Casita, perfectly located in Old Town, just across the street from Old Town State Park, down the hill from the Presidio and around the block to main trolley and train access. The owner Steve was incredibly hospitable, helpful and accommodating. The unit is well provisioned with every comfort of home (my wife appreciated the instant hot water dispenser for her tea). We enjoyed the comfy bed, relaxing outdoor patio and nicely updated bath. The Casita, originally built in 1948, maintains the charm and character of that era and felt cozy and romantic. It was quiet and we slept great! We highly recommend this property!
