toilet in master bedroom in our suite was totally clogged and staff had to come repeatedly to attend to it. I asked for an upgrade so we would have 2 bathrooms and I get cheated another 500 bucks. utter manipulation. fairmont is a crooked hotel
Loved the gingerbread house and Christmas decorations.
Breakfast was delicious. Clean comfortable room.
Checking in was disappointing, crowded and late. Finally in room at 430 pm.
The property’s upkeeps have significantly declined after the pandemic. Lack of staff and lack the quality of service, not up to par with the five stars status. Cleanliness in the lobby and main entrance were disappointing. Everything in the suite was expected. Hope everything bounces back to the classic Fairmont that we were familiar with.
I stayed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for 2 nights. I didn’t know the lobby decorations were a large public spectacle at Christmas and all day it was packed with people like a crowded concert. The stairs and floors were filthy and the same stains throughout my stay. The staff was trying their best but it was a crazy weekend.
However, my room was clean and service was good. I stayed in the original, main building and it has seen better days in terms of wear and maintenance. My room was dark and faced mechanical equipment. My bed and pillows were hard and lumpy.
Kudos to the staff when I told them the toilet didn’t flush the first day- I was comped breakfast for two days.
In the future I’ll stay across the street at either The Mark Hopkins or Stanford Court since the lobby isn’t mobbed at Christmas and it’s still beautiful.
I stayed at Stanford Court directly before Fairmont and it is really modernized, great bed and pillows, open, had a nice view of the city, friendly staff and was super clean- and half the cost of the Fairmont.
I was hoping for an upgraded experience at the Fairmont, but very disappointed. There were so many empty hotels in San Francisco that weekend, they need a better experience to compete. The desk told me they had a lot of Queen rooms available so why they put me in a bad one, I’ll never know.
The service was not good here at all. From the valet in the lot to checking out. This was not a luxury experience. The worst part was having the valet driver chasing me down in the hotel to accuse me of not reporting my dogs. I had two dogs with me that went in and out of the hotel all day- how could I be trying to avoid paying?? I’ve been to many hotels, if I didn’t want to pay for my pets, I wouldn’t have gone. That was just disgusting and trifling. I won’t be back- four seasons has a much better experience and I will certainly be there again next time. I’m not used to being treated like crap.
