Our daily itinerary consisted of going to an early breakfast breakfast in any of the small towns in the area, doing some walking and shopping, and then coming back to use the pool in the hottest part of the day. We also visited some wineries in the afternoon, if the weather was a little too cool for the pool.In the evenings, we stayed in and had cheese, fruit, bread, nuts, and wine for dinner — enjoying the sunsets!The view from the hilltop was spectacular and we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay!

Had a wonderful stay at this dream property! The location is breathtaking, sitting perched on top of a hill overlooking beautiful rolling oak dotted hills and countryside acreage. Loved the roaming cattle, sheep and goats on the hillsides nearby. Everything was perfect and Alanna was so kind making sure all needs were met! Can’t wait to stay again. Thank you!

Wonderful getaway

We’ve been to the Santa Ynez Valley many times. This property is one of the nicest we’ve stayed in! Gorgeous views, close to everything and a lovely host. Cannot recommend enough for a couple.

One of the best places we've ever stayed at

This is a real gem. Gorgeous, quiet, well appointed — we wanted for nothing. A very kind host who accommodated every request and who let us know when she was coming and going. It was also a great spot for our puppy! We'll definitely stay here again.

Top of the hills gorgeous views!

Clean and well-appointed at the top of a hill in an exclusive rural area very close to wineries and Los Olivos. Peaceful setting. A perfect place to relax and get away.

Quiet Time

My husband and I traveled to Santa Ynez for a very special family occasion and were looking for a space away from the crowds to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. There were birds, a few horses and a few foxes that we spotted. The guest house was very bright, airy and clean. The hosts were very easy to communicate with while also being very unobtrusive. We will definitely stay again!

Santa Barbara Ranch Country

Fabulous view setting, superb privacy. Excellent introduction to the many treasures of the Santa Barbara ranch and wine Country. I swam in the pool, warm enough for a Dutchman in April, but a solar heating system for the pool is a much needed upgrade for most others.

great Los Olivos getaway

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property has beautiful views (from inside and out) as seen in the photos, and was very clean, comfortable for 2 adults and well stocked. We really enjoyed morning coffee in the yard. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful for walking, yet close enough to town and the wineries. The only (possibly negative) things to note are:1. the spa has to be heated on demand so you have to tell the owner 1-2 hours before you want to use it, so that prevented any spontaneity. (we had asked in advance and were told it would be available for use) 2. you are sharing the property and some walls/ceilings with the owners who were there with their dog (although dog was quiet). So if you want total privacy when you're enjoying the outdoors (pool/spa or just lounging) this may bother you as they are upstairs facing the pool as well. 3. we had trouble several times getting in using the electronic keypad. It wouldn't always work. Fortunately, since the owner was on property and responded quickly, we weren't stuck outside long. (a new lock or batteries should fix that) 4. (last) the kitchen is small and handy for making small meals (e.g.breakfast) but there is no true kitchen sink (faucet drains in a plastic container that you have to dump out in the bathroom). Overall though we would stay here again.

Great Place, cool pool, wonderful hostess

Alanna is a great hostess with a lovely retreat nestled in the mountains in Wine and Horse country. Easy checkin, everything we needed was ready, very comfortable bed, clean as a whistle. Great pool - and no need to have it heated as the daily temperature varied between 78 - 100 degrees. Dry heat, cool pool, wonderful setting. We'll return next Spring. It was 4 celestial days with an incredibly active and friendly hostess. Alanna was truly impressive: quick to reply to any request, honest and honorable. Wonderful time all around!

Sublime Experience

We love staying at this property. We have visited the Santa Ynez Valley many times, but this was a new experience. The view is fabulous, better than the photos posted. The pool was just what we needed to relax and unwind. Alanna is the most gracious host. We would love to return.

Fabulous Mountaintop Spot

This VRBO is one of the most beautiful we've seen. Very clean, wonderful pool, and the apartment was well equipped with anything you could want. Great amenities, location. Host Alanna and Dale very helpful on recommendations.

Lovely stay in Santa Ynez

Overall this was a perfect place for my husband and two dogs to stay. The location on top of a hill was just beautiful and quiet. Even though the property is attached to the main house, it feels separate. The space is light and bright, with all great accommodations and supplies. We will be back!

Perfect Getaway

Mystical Hilltop Ranch is a beautiful getaway -- close to town, but you are seculded and feel miles away. The furniture is very comfortable and the bed was amazing. Everything you need, from cooking utensils to lovely towels to nice bath products, is all there. The communication with the owner could not have been more seamless and helpful. Highly recommend!

Relaxing Getaway

Really great place!

Very spacious, well appointed, modern and clean, lots of great details. Extremely comfortable. Espresso maker and lots of fluffy towels along with many thoughtful details. Lovely, friendly host and easy to reach via phone or text. Highly recommend.

Lovely stay, lovely host!

Alanna anticipated our arrival and personally greeted us. Our stay including 2 dogs was wonderful. The guest quarters was roomy and well equipped with Keurig, oven and microwave. Alanna was so gracious as to make dinner reservations on our behalf, and arranged for a visit with a winery owner (alas, our schedule did not permit!) Our dogs were welcomed to stay in while we went out to dinner (not many places would permit this). All in all, a great place to stay, and a great host!

Wonderful Stay!

The property is beautiful, comfortable and well appointed. The rooms are large and sunny and you have a parking spot right outside your door. The property is located less than 10 minutes to great shops, restaurants, and wineries. Alanna is a thoughtful and gracious host. We very much enjoyed our stay.
