"The house has a heated pool, which allowed us to swim and sunbathe! Although the house also has air conditioning, nothing beats lighting the fireplace and spending some time chatting! Excellent architecture and decoration. Perfect location, in the countryside near the wonderful beaches. The hosts were very friendly and dedicated. We will return again and I recommend it to everyone looking for an ideal place to relax!"

"The vibe was so calm and relaxing. The breakfasts had a huge variety of food, and were tasty. The beds were less firm than usual Portuguese standards, but quite firm by UK standards. The pool was a delightful respite from daily life and as it was quiet, we often had the whole space to ourselves. The staff were lovely. The local town was a bit quiet, and developing in tourism. "Very relaxing , quiet and zen hotel. Room was beautiful and food was great everywhere including the breakfast buffet. I think the best part of the hotel is the beach access (sun beds included in the price). The only thing is staff could provide higher quality service for the price - they provided conflicting information about the resort facilities at points and didn’t bend over backward to offer transportation to restaurants/spa across the highway; and you have to specifically request them to pick you up at your villa otherwise you have to walk 5-10 minutes to the front lobby to catch the shuttle. We also asked them to book a restaurant for us and they said they were working on it and just never gave us a call back. Also note that you must make restaurant reservations in advance of your stay. There are 2 different hotel locations so the restaurants and rooms/spa are spread out between the two and you need to take the shuttle to get across the highway to the other location."

"Overall, the hotel was excellent in every aspect. Unfortunately, the area has a lot of flies and that’s not something they can control when you’re outdoors. The room was very nice and included all the necessary amenities. The pool was a little small but nice and the gym could have more equipment, but the staff is outstanding in taking care of you and everything you need, even before you think about it. I would definitely come back!"

"It is difficult to add much to all the other reviews, other than to say that they are absolutely right - this really is an idyllic place.The setting is wonderful, surrounded by beautiful Alentejo countryside, with amazing views and a sense of peace and tranquillity that is very special. The cottage itself is full of character, beautifully decorated with a very rustic feel. It feels wonderfully secluded, yet Cercal is close enough for shops, restaurants and anything else you might need, and there are some fantastic beaches within easy reach.We cannot speak highly enough of António. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming and gave us some excellent recommendations for places to visit. The bottle of delicious Alentejo red wine waiting for us when we arrived was a lovely touch - as was the bowl of freshly hand-picked figs he gave us when we left!And a special mention for the outdoor shower - absolutely perfect after a hot day at the beach.We genuinely loved our stay here. A beautiful, peaceful and very special place that we would recommend without hesitation - and can't wait to return to."
