The windmill and annex building were great. The walled courtyard was really nice. I was not thrilled with the town itself but this being just outside of town made the stay very enjoyable. The host was very easy to communicate with and seemed really nice. If I were to stay in the area again I would stay here. Very enjoyable!
Traumhafte Ruhe.
We had booked for the full month of March, 2020. Due to flight delays we arrived after dark and property manager Fred made himself available to guide us. There were just two of us, and we stayed in the annex, which was a bit easier to heat on chilly mornings. It is roomy and well equipped, good wi-fi. There is some travel literature, and the guest book is full of good recommendations from previous guests. We had plans to move into the mill later in the month, but had to cut our trip short due to the CV-19 travel restrictions. We really enjoyed our stay. It is very rural, with about :15 minutes walk to Cercal, shops and restaurants. We did day trips by car to Lagos, Sines, and other coastal villages, and overnight to Evora and the area, as well as lots of local walks, including the 16 km. to Porto Covo on our last day (took a cab back). Local food and wine (and coffee and pastry) is good and reasonable. The property is very private (cows and sheep as neighbours), and the pool got less skull-numbingly cold as the month went on. We hadn't really expected to be able to use it at all, so it was a nice cold plunge after a morning run. Fred, the property manager, was very helpful and attentive, and looked after things very well. Keith was very accommodating with our early departure. In sum, it suited us to a T, and we hope to be able to return.
Alles in allem sehr gut. Obrigada!
A apontar:

Super holiday in the mill of Cercal
We loved the mill, the house, the swimmingpool, everything! And the very beautiful view. So pleased we booked this place. Fred was very helpfull.
Cercal had a lot of festivals during our stay. And we bought some ceremics from Matu in Cercal. Milfontes was lovely and we have seen a lot of other cities in the neighbourhood (Santiago do Cacem, Sines, Beja, Odemira, Zambojeira, Cabo St Vincentes, Lagos etc.). Of the beaches we liked Almogravebeach the most. At the last day we visited Lisboa. Great!
We rent a boat in MiIlfontes, a waterbike near Ilha, and went horsebackriding in Porto Covo. Loved it.

Das war toll! Richtig toll!

Beautiful! Very atmospheric and unique. Lots of charm and character but good modern facilities.
Windmill Hill is just as it sounds ! A windmill on a hill overlooking beautiful countryside and when the weather is fair, a sunny spot to relax and unwind.
The Mill, Annexe, garden, courtyard and pool were well maintained and would comfortably sustain a family holiday for 6 particularly in the summer months.
Our visit wasn't blessed with best weather sadly but this did not detract from the beauty of the setting or the hospitality that the Mill afforded us. It was pretty chilly in the evening tho' and blankets and hot water bottles ( provided at the property) were put to good use as were the heaters. Cosy inside once the heaters kicked in, the kitchen was simply but well equipped and family suppers were enjoyed around the beautiful large dining table.
Fred, the manager, was welcoming and helpful and showed us around on our arrival.
The owners were also very helpful and responded to queries efficiently and courteously.
We would definitely recommend Windmill Hill to anyone wanting to enjoy peace and tranquility and beautiful countryside. Being almost a two hour drive from Faro it had the additional benefit for us of being removed from the tourist areas. Few people spoke English so it felt that we were experiencing a true taste of Portugal . It is a beautiful place to stay and we highly recommend it.
