We made last minute reservations because our daughter was going to be in the Cashiers area for an event. We were VERY pleased with the Rose room in the Cottage. It was clean, homey and well appointed. We liked that the area was quiet and it was away from the hustle and bustle of town but still convenient to Cashiers/Highlands as well as Gorges State Park. We definitely plan to return!

Substandard and malodorous
When I opened the door, it stank, I had to air it out for about an hour, dank. The bed, while it appeared luxurious, turned out to be very uncomfortable, the pillows too, woke up sore and with a headache. The coffee pot was dirty, had old grounds and water in tank, for who knows how long, stank. Paint peeling in the bathroom. 1.5 to 2” gap underneath door to adjoining rented room, I chose to put pillows to block it, blinds are too small for the windows and you can easily see inside at night, curtains covered only about 20% so you couldn’t cover where blinds failed. Premium price, substandard property. Also, welcomed with a speed bump that almost wrecked my vehicle.

Great location, cute woodsy decor. Great communication from manager. Great layout. The only suggestion would be to replace the couch. It’s definitely beyond its useful life.

This is a very nice rustic property, quite befitting the area of the mountains. Very easy check-in; the rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. A perfect spot as a base for hiking in the Gorges State Park and for other local attractions.

The description of the property was accurate....no surprises. Check in was easy, the apartment was beautiful, very comfortable, clean, and inviting. There are several good places to dine nearby. Some great hikes within about 15 minutes. We will be back here for another mountain getaway in the near future. Highly recommend!!

We stayed two nights with two kids and our small pet at the Dogwood room. Pictures don’t do it justice, room was spacious, super clean and beautiful rustic decor. We loved it. View of the surrounding woods, quiet and peaceful at night and during the day. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return and recommend. Melanie was exceptional in her communication. Thank you!

Nice Room near the Blue Ridge Parkway
Nice room in a 4 room lodge. Semi secluded room facing the woods with a small porch. Comfortable bed. Perfect for a one night getaway if going to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Very nice Italian Restaurant nearby.

A true gem of a place to stay. Black Bear Lodge has a lodge with 4 apartments and an adjacent cabin. It was immaculate, the linens, towels and kitchen items (coffee maker, toaster oven, refrigerator, microwave) were all quality. Quiet with several amazing restaurants within easy driving distance. Parking was easy and free. Will definitely return for another stay at Black Bear Lodge.

Beautiful surroundings with easy access to Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, and local hiking. Great bedding and bath products. Also, exceptionally clean, great communication, nice kitchenette. Have already spoken to other family and recommended it to them.

Black Bear Lodge is a simple, hidden gem in the Sapphire/Cashiers/Highlands area. Quick, straightforward booking, always clean, rustic charm, great price, optimal location. Some renovations occurring on a separate building on the grounds were no distraction at all.

This is our 2nd time staying at Black Bear. We love staying here. It’s a quaint space, clean, and quiet. The location is great, close to lots of outdoor activities. I would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed four nights in the Rose cottage which was charming and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was spacious, clean and pretty. Much attention to detail was evident in providing amenities for guests in the cottage. The reason I didn't give 5 stars in Cleanliness and Communication was because housekeeping didn't come one day and the binder with information about local dining was outdated. Otherwise we were very pleased and have told our friends about it.

So cozy, had everything I needed close to many places to eat and hike. Would definitely stay again. WiFi was temperamental and could not get consistent service but that was not a detriment to the stay. The cabin has everything you need!
