Sarria is located in the southern half of the province of Lugo. It limits the north with the councils of Láncara and Páramo, the south with the council of the Incio and the west with Paradela. Three geographical areas can be distinguished in the territory occupied by the Sarria council: a plain located in the center and west, between 500 and 700 meters of altitude, a mountainous area in the west, which reaches 800 meters of altitude in Monte Páramo or Monte de Santa Icla, and the valley or "Vega de Sarria", 400 meters above sea level. Farmland, especially meadows, abounds and forests are reduced, standing on the banks of rivers.
