  • Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

Our family had a great stay here. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The house was accommodating and allowed us to spread out and relax. Walking distance to grocery, park, and multiple great restaurants. Parking space made life easy with kids. Communication to rental company was easy.

Great location!

We were happy to be away from the newer downtown and right in the historic area. We walked everywhere and enjoyed strolling down the brick sidewalks admiring the beautiful architecture. The house was very spacious, clean and bright. The a/c worked perfectly and kept us cool after our long walks. We hope to visit Savannah again!

Everything was very clean. Location was convenient to the trolley line to go downtown. Off street parking was nice even though it was a little tight to turn into. Staff was responsive to any questions. I would stay here again on a future visit.

What a gem

We had a fabulous Mother's day trip with my sister and mom. What a joy to each have our own bedroom . This is a wonderful, spacious unit with an updated kitchen close to Forsyth Park. I recommend this unit to anyone who wants to be close to the historic district. Most attractions were a mile away, walkable for the young but we drove since we had our 88 year old mom along. Would stay here again!

My mother and I came to Savannah to look at some property I was interested in. We stayed at a great place that was very close to all the stuff that goes on in Savannah. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Great location

We were able to enjoy all of Savannah on foot. There was a great coffee shop and supermarket one block away. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of pillows and towels. We had a prompt reply when we had questions. We would stay here again in the future.

Great location

This home is super comfortable and was recently updated. The place was spotless, and very clean. 5 minutes away from everything, walking distance and coffee shop 2 minutes away. If coming bacl to savannah will gladly stay here again!

Fabulous stay. Clean. Comfortable. Had 4 adults with plenty of room. Management was quickly responsive to any issue. Had no problems parking on the street. We did not use the included parking space so can't comment. Would love to stay here again.

Spacious comfortable home!

The house is in a nice neighborhood not too far from Forsyth Park and all that the historic district has to offer. The bedrooms are bright and roomy and the beds are super comfy. The kitchen is well appointed with dishes and anything else you may need for cooking. The high ceilings and numerous windows make the living and dining rooms seem extra big. I would definitely stay again!

Christmas at Habersham Hall

Perfect. The downtown location allowed us to host our local family and friends in a comfortable home. It was unique to find a completely open floorpan on the first floor, which made for a very family friendly environment. (Yes, we put up a tree). The Bedrooms were big and the primary bath was amazing. I'm sure the next guests will enjoy their stay.

Savannah visit

Absolutely no complaints. The place was clean, cozy. Had to call the property manager about some very minor things but they responded very quickly and took care of the 2 issues. The home was in a very safe beautiful area. Most everything was in walking distance. We would definitely use again! Thank you for your hospitality!!
