"The room was very well-prepared and the owner is kind and helpful, and seems like she has some interesting stories to tell. I was hoping the bar would be a gathering spot for all the guests, but I never saw it open (appears to be by reservation?) That we were encouraged to return by 9 PM was also a bit onerous (given it is 30 minutes from the city centre), but an understandable part of the guesthouse experience."

"We loved staying here for our one night trip in Kyoto. The room itself is clean and its Japanese style room. Shared bathrooms and showers. It doesn’t have elevator so I wouldn’t recommend to stay here if you have heavy luggages and staying for longer duration. "

"A beautiful traditional inn/hotel, our room looked over the garden- very serene and lovely to take an evening walk in (all lit up) and likewise a morning walk (dressed in the provided yukatas). A little further out from some of the main Kyoto tourist spots but that's fitting for the location and Kyoto is very well connected with buses and the subway. Only wish we could have stayed longer! "The ryokan was definitely traditional. It was a wonderful experience, and the duvet was the most comfortable thing for the cold winter nights. We used the private open-air bath twice, once with sudden notice. The hotel staff were still happy to accommodate us despite the hour, and they were overall very kind about everything.
