"What a very cool place! If you like interesting lodging and nature, you will love this place. It is a bit off the beaten path however, so you'll require a car. Definitely take them up on the offer to stay for dinner. Dona Natalia's home-cooked meals are absolutely delicious (if my Cajun grandmother was Portuguese, she would be Natalia), and a great deal at 15 euros per person, with wine. "

"Fernado & Amelia were very welcoming and had generously left a welcome gift pack. We were given lots of information about services & things to do in the area. The outdoor living space with bbq & outdoor sink and plenty of charcoal together with the pool greatly enhanced our stay in early July. The only downside was there was no airconditioning (our error not noticing when booking) as in the 1st week temperatures were up to 40 degrees but fans were provided. A lovely peaceful setting."

"2nd visit this time with better weather so made use of the private pateo area. The house is spacious a small change has been made which has resulted in the property only has 1 shower but still has 2 toilets. Had a great stay great hosts and lovley eggs and lemons from the sweet lady."

"Fabulous home in a beautiful, serene valley. You will definitely feel the love when you arrive here. We were greeted by the whole family bearing, wine, charcuterie, and a pineapple upside down cake. It is always such an honor to stay in one of these family homesteads. Lots of space, beautiful décor, amazing landscaping and views of the village. Enjoy a walk along the river in the flowers and vineyards. This is a great place to relax."

"We’ve had such a lovely stay at this lovely villa. It’s a very quiet area, with lovely views of the river. We were 3 families staying for the week, we thoroughly enjoyed the (heated!) pool everyday, we had a couple of days wakesurfing on the river Douro and a couple of trips to the beach and river beach. we also thoroughly enjoyed a cooked meal at the villa by Alda, she is a very talented chef. Check in and out process was seamless with a very smiley welcoming Alda meeting us at the property....

"We had a lovely holiday in Alvarenga. Manuel and his family were warm and welcoming and we loved attempting to chat round the pool in French and Spanish! It's a beautiful area with green eucalyptus hills and the Geo park provided some interesting spots to visit. "We moved from another place on short notice, and they were very accommodating. We visited Porto, Aviero, braga Arouca, 516 bridge and Gaia. It is located in a little town and is on a private street where we could park right in front. It was walking distance to restaurants and various things. Not a lot of businesses in the town but we purposely wanted a quiet place. The apartment was on the first floor, which is one up from the ground, and what was the equivalent of a house. Location is fantastic - minutes from downtown Aveiro, two big supermarkets and the beaches, but still in a residential neighborhood.
