「Vijay and Emma are newer owners of this hidden gem. The entire property has been upgraded. Immaculate, fresh bed linens and towels, washcloths etc. Also, my room had a refrigerator which I did not anticipate. That was definitely a plus!」

「The room was clean and comfortable. It was a quiet night's sleep as I believe I was the only one there. Breakfast was very plain and simple: English muffins and cinnamon toast, with no fruit or juice. Coffee was plentiful」

「Staff was nice and arrival. Room was not clean, burn holes on blankets. My back still hurts from sleeping on a lumpy bed」

「Charming and clean with helpful people who checked in before we got there to get to make sure we knew how things worked with checking in and keys and such. It’s dated, but it appears as if they’ve renovated and cleaned things up to look and feel beautiful as well and be functional.」

「The customer service alone here makes me want to stay here time and time again! Every single staff member I dealt with at the front desk and on the phone was so kind and extremely pleasant to deal with. As a solo traveler, this also gave me a feeling of safety which I truly appreciate. The rooms may be slightly outdated, but was clean and comfortable for a one night stay. The mattress was a bit softer than I prefer, but the A/C ran great and I slept like a baby all night with zero disturbance....

「Aside from the keys, not working in the desk person making me wait 15 minutes before they would come create me another key and the homeless people in the hallway. The mattress was the absolute worst I’ve ever slept in in my life basically a cement board. Other than that, it is first choice for the homeless in the hallway」

「For the price this was a nice place to stay passing through Brattleboro. Everything was fine until an employee, without knocking, just unlocked our door and walked in at 10:40am and said “Check out”. Someone could have been dressing. We felt very rushed even though checkout was 11am. It took a lot of restraint to not verbally lay into the guy. Just make sure your extra locks are secured.」

「Room was lovely. Lots of old time charm. Beautiful view! Continental breakfast was average- fruit was kind of shriveled. Did not try out the restaurant, it just didn’t fit our schedule. Would stay again.」

「This place is amazing very unique Viking style and themed. surrounded by woods and hiking trails. They also have a special brand of sheep heard on the property. they did an exceptional job building and maintaining this place.」

「Loved the Black Walnut Inn. I would love to go back. The rooms are lovely. Breakfast is delicious. A very generous spread. Self-serve tea and coffee is available at all times in the dining room area. There are also treats one can help oneself too. Chocolate chip cookies our first day and molasses cookies the second. Meghan bakes the best cookies. Seriously, the best. The owners are very warm. If we visit Amherst again, staying here would be our first choice. Thank you.」
