The place is dirty: the rooms, sheets, towels. Corridors had trash that had clearly been there for a long time. The rooms have non-smoking signs but the rooms and halls smell of smoke. There are signs in the rooms with the number for the local police?! At 7:15am, there was no sign of coffee or even an area for the included breakfast but I would not have taken advantage of it anyway since the place was so dirty.

The room was dirty. It looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in any corner in a long while. The hallways were dark. There was a man panhandling out front, and it had an air of neglect to the whole place. The bed was comfortable enough, but I tried not to walk around without my shoes. We would have left, but there was no refund and we figured we could survive a night. The name sounded so pleasant and nostalgic that we got sucked in.

Overall I was happy with the stay. The only two issues were with the TV having flaky connections which was annoying. Second issue was I went to check out this morning. No one was at the desk. Hit the button to alert someone to come and check me out. Hit the button a second time 5 minutes later and waited another five minutes. Still no response. I gave up and left the keys in the deposit box. I would have preferred getting a final accounting.

The room was very dated with cheap furnishings. Although it appeared that the room had been painted in the last few years, the paint was spotty in places. The bathroom vanity was chipped and was not sized properly so that the toilet seat went underneath the counter. The bathtub had been refinished sloppily and the handlebar was missing. The knob of the bathroom door was not secured in the door so the door would not completely close. There were no Kleenex or cups in the room and the toilet tissue was one-ply. The tv did not work initially. The desk clerk got the tv working and brought cups immediately upon request. The sheets were clean. The towels were just ok.

I went for a clean one-night sleep, after a 12 hour drive. They started vacuuming at 7.30 AM next door, and the same dude started banging on my door to get in. On a Saturday morning. Do you think anyone apologized? No, he just left his cleaning supplies outside of my room until I checked out at 9.30 AM. I had very low expectations, only needed a clean room to sleep and continue my drive. And I was interrupted by the guy cleaning the rooms.

The staff were helpful and very nice. Never ignorant. We liked that. We didn't like it that there was less in the breakfast room than last year, considering we paid $10 extra per person for 4 people, and that they had to unlock the door to let guests in. They also didn't get rid of the trash in the cans or change bags. No fresh towels in the bathroom after two being used. They also didn't change linens and make the beds while we were out for the day. Some staff were talking out loud in the hallway real early in the morning while I was sleeping, and they woke me up.
