Located in the knolls of Simi Valley, this mountain oasis is surrounded by rock formations, oak trees and beautiful wildlife. From the moment you exit Rocky Peak Road you'll feel transported as sandstone boulders rise up along the winding road.
The neighborhood is friendly and safe, so even though Los Angeles county is only 2 miles away you'll feel like you're in a mountain retreat. Modern amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants and Starbucks are located within a mile; though I recommend taking an extra five minutes to check out Lucky Dog Cafe.
The property itself sits at the base of a small mountain. When it rains heavily, there is actually a waterfall that flows into a creek through the property. The house is about 1,000 sq feet, low maintenance and well designed. This is old construction, so the walls are thick, the wood is strong and it feels very private. The central air system works quickly but there is also a wood burning fireplace if you prefer to heat the old-fashioned way. The kitchen features all new appliances, including a gas burning stove. Bathroom is very unique, it's considered a wet room as there is no glass divider for the shower; definitely Joshua Tree vibes.
The master bedroom features a queen bed, closet and plenty of drawer space. The guest bedroom has a couch, coffee table and a very comfortable full mattress Murphy bed which is braced into masonry.
The living room features a futon with a mattress topper. Fine for kids or young adults but probably not the best sleeping arrangement if you have mobility issues. There is a wood-burning fireplace, a 48-inch television and plenty of board games. Overall just a great space to get together. There is also a full size inflatable mattress if needed.
Outside there is a deck and seating area, a grill, corn hole, life-sized Jenga and a great view of the giant boulders in the park adjacent to the property. This place is especially beautiful in the day but there are string lights across the yard for evening enjoyment.
You are able to do some rock climbing and light hiking in this park and in many other parks nearby. I'm happy to share more information by request. If Hollywood history interests you, the famous Corriganville Movie Ranch is just 1/4 mile down the road.
