Nice home. Clean. Felt a bit small for our family of 4, despite having 3 bedrooms. But it’s quaint and nice. Probably would’ve preferred having 2 bathrooms for our stay; or at least have the 1 bathroom be a larger size. It was cramped and there’s very little storage (for a woman’s makeup/toiletries). The shower has absolutely no shelves or area to place soap/Shampoo bottles at all. There a window in the shower but no covering over it. We had to use other small towels hung in it, to give some privacy. Which soaked them and prevented them being used elsewhere. And with only 1 towel per person for the whole week, we used up all we had, rather quickly.
The beds are very thin mattresses, which made for restless nights. I’ve not had back pain in over 10 years (live a very fitness-related lifestyle); but had to take ibuprofen for back pain, every morning after I got out of bed.
We understand it’s a very wet climate there; but didn’t realize the bedrooms were in the basement. I’m sure this is perfect for hot summers; but it was very damp and moldy feeling, down there. I was extremely concerned for my youngest, who has Asthma. He’d just gotten over a very serious Asthmatic/lung-related sickness, prior to traveling for holiday. Luckily he didn’t get sick again; but the damp rooms and air in the basement greatly concerned us for his health.
The beach area is beautiful and so close by. We loved being able to walk there so easily. We hiked the hills at the edge of the beach, also. Having some easy-to-carry beach chairs on hand, would be perfect, as well as a WiFi router (even if the patron paid for time used, himself). The home is quaint, and if a family had smaller children, I think it would be plenty of room. Ours are older, so it just seemed that we didn’t have enough of our own space, while there.
Also, if the bathroom door could be fixed where it opens inside the restroom, instead of into the hall; it would be more convenient. It needs to remain open after taking a shower, to allow the RR to clear out all the steam (for mirrors etc...); but in order to keep the door open, it opens into the very narrow hallway. And no one can get by, without closing it back.
