Sommers Beach

This is a great location for exploring the waterfront and old pubs like the Hope & Anchor. Parking at the Hotel is $25 for one night, well worth it. After checking in and enjoying our $25 beverage credit (ale and cider for us) we set off to enjoy the sights and the sunset! We received a room upgrade, which was spacious with a four-poster bed. It was quiet, as the street traffic died down about 9pm. A sign in the room mentioned the age of the hotel and the need to allow the hot water tap to run for a while, which was nice for us to know, and we were rewarded for our patience. Breakfast was included with our room rate, and it was lovely to go downstairs into the dining area for a buffet of pastries, cheeses, croissants, cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice, and coffee. Staff was friendly and attentive.

We had an incredible stay in the most peaceful and comfortable room (Kelly) with a stunning vista, the staff aren’t on site at all times, and there is a beautiful self-service communal kitchen that is well appointed with some tasty local basics (cakes, jams, toast). I certainly couldn’t have asked for anything more, it’s exactly what we wanted. But don’t expect full service with amenities galore. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Charming retreat close to everything. We had a great short stay here and would definitely come again. The room was very comfortable (especially the heated tiles in the ensuite) and the whole building itself and the grounds were beautiful. Lovely breakfast including their in-house apricot jam.
