An excellent Gite! Never stayed anywhere so well equipped particularly in the kitchen and for young children. Sheila and Tony were great hosts. Very friendly and welcoming and very helpful with local knowledge and places to visit. Our Grandson loved the trampoline and we loved Sheila’s amazing coffee cake!! Thank you, we will definitely be back!

Above expectations

It was more than expected. They have gone over and above to make sure they have covered all your needs for a comfortable stay. The only negative thing was there was no tv in the main lounge and that was only missed due to the bad weather when we were there. I believe that it was something to do with a poor signal in that room.

Hidden Gem

This is my first time renting a temporary house and, based on my wonderful experience, it will not be my last. Our family group consisted of my two adult sons, two daughter-in-laws, two grandchildren (4 years old and 15 months old), my wife and I. The house easily accommodated our group (we did have another adult friend for the first two nights). The house is in a rural area of Normandy, with an awesome view of the surrounding countryside. We greatly enjoyed the outdoor grounds and the children were enthralled with the swings, trampoline, and toys provided by the hosts. The city of Vire is nearby and provided any provisions or other needs we required. The centralized location provided us easy access to our daily adventures (Saint Malo, Mont St-Michel, Bayeaux, D-Day invasion beaches, American cemetery). The hosts, Sheila and Tony, are a delight. They were never intrusive, but always available to answer our questions and provide insightful information. My one regret is that I did not have enough time to just spend an evening chatting with them. I am not prone to hyperbole; however, their place is an absolute bargain and a somewhat hidden gem. Be assured, as more people discover this place and the graciousness of the hosts, it will become more difficult to book, especially in July and August. I hope that our family can return some day!

Super gite

Sheila and Tony are such great hosts. They have given a great deal of careful thought to everything in the gite to make it a home-from-home stay. They are readily available with local knowledge and nothing is too much trouble. Everything you could want from a holiday.

Excellent stay, in a nice location and great hosts!

Sheila and Tony are such a nice and caring hosts that you will immediately feel at home! The location is amazing, in a very calm and relaxing environment, with a nice surrounding! The house is perfectly equipped and tastefully decorated. The firesides in the living room and the kitchen made our stay even more pleasant. The garden around the house is beautiful and made the kids happy with all the playground they enjoyed in addition to the bikes. This was a memorble long weekend where we enjoyed both the house and the neighboring monuments and villages (Mont saint Michel...). We definitely recommend! Thank you Sheila and Tony for your kindness and friendship spirit!

A truly wonderful holiday at Hillcrest

What a wonderful stay we had at Hillcrest. With stunning views of the Normandy countryside and stacks of space for the kids to play (on the large trampoline and swimming pool) it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy our family holiday. Sheila and Tony were on hand to answer our questions and were fabulous hosts, even going as far as to guide us to the local Carrefour to stock up on wine before we departed. Throughout the gite it was all the special touches which made our stay so great - the beautiful bedding, the immaculate kitchen, the ‘gin bar’ and bbq area... everything had truly been thought of. We couldn’t recommend Hillcrest enough. We had a brilliant holiday and will definitely be making a return visit!

Wonderful place!

From the first mail with the house owners, Sheila and Tony, we were treated like hotel guests. They even asked us if we needed something from the shops as we arrived on a Sunday. At arrival we thought that he house is even more beautiful than it looked on the website. It was clean, cosy and warm when we arrived. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the house offers absolutely everything you need. The children loved the so-called 'men-cave'. The property was well-maintened and it is obvious that Sheila and Tony put much effort and love in what they do. They were also very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the talks with them. The area offers so many things that are worth seeing that a week is actually not enough. We visited Mont Sint Michael, Granville and some other places including Colleville-sur-Mere. We ate a plat du jour in Vire in a place called Brasserie Le Central and it was simple but good and with friendly staff. Pizzeria Le Four a Bois in Vire was a bit of a disappointment; the pizzas were not that good and quite expensive as well. We would like to thank Sheila and Tony for their warm welcome and for our very pleasant stay!

Séjour de pâques

Superbe séjour dans cette charmante demeure. Le jardin est plus que fantastique et nos enfants ont pu en profiter pleinement. Les hôtes sont d´une gentillesse extrême et vous réserveront un accueil des plus chaleureux. L´emplacement de cette maison est idéal car au calme dans la campagne, mais il est très appréciable de pouvoir bénéficier aux alentours de magnifiques balades et le Mont St Michel et à moins d´1h. Merci Tony et Sheila pour ce superbe séjour. Toute la famille Hillériteau.

Merveilleux séjour

Nous avons passé un séjour vraiment agréable dans cette maison particulièrement bien décorée confortable. Sheila et Tony nous ont vraiment bien accueilli et nous ont offert des gâteaux et une bouteille de crémant à notre arrivée! Cet endroit est parfait pour profiter de quelques jours au vert, avec des enfants qui peuvent notamment profiter du très grand jardin où se trouvent un trampoline et une structure de tobogan. Bref, nous reviendrons probablement!

Un automne dans un charmant cottage avec anglais

Sheila et Tony sont adorables, ils habitent une partie indépendante de la maison et donc sont juste à côté si besoin. La maison est très agréable, chaude, très bien équipée et très propre ! Un feu et un panier garni nous attendait à notre arrivée Un super accueil Notre séjour automnal était idéal et les enfants ont profité pleinement du jardin et du trampoline ;)

We had a great time in the house. The house is very spacious and very clean! The owners supply all those little unexpected extra's we have not seen before. As the owners put it "they offer the house the way they would want their facvourite house to be".

Un lieu et un accueil fantastiques

Le gîte Hill Crest de Tony et Sheila est vraiment une perle. Niché sur les hauteurs de Sourdeval, il est au calme et possède un grand jardin (avec trampoline et piscine) qui a fait le bonheur des enfants, mais toutes les commodités sont à maximum dix minutes en voiture. Notre groupe de deux familles (4 adultes, 3 enfants) y était confortablement logés, et nous avions de la place. Le plus important à signaler: les propriétaires étaient présents sur place, et aux petits soins pour nous: d'une bouteille de bienvenue, à un prêt de vélo, à un remplacement instantané d'une ampoule où à la mise en place de transats dans le jardin, nous n'avions jamais été accueillis aussi chaleureusement. Nous ne pouvons que recommander ce lieu de vacances ! Tony et Sheila, un grand merci de la part de notre groupe !
