Upon arrival from a early morning morning flight, we were told to come back around 3pm as there are no rooms available, even though i explained that I had a early flight from Dubai. We were told to visit a nearby mall, which we did and returned back around 2pm to which we were still asked to wait even though their check out time for guests is 11am a room should have been available by now. As we waited patiently the room then became available after 30mins to which the lady at the reception informed me that they require a credit card to block 300swiss francs, I explained i dont have a credit card and that instead can i offer a deposit amount in British Pounds as i didnt have swiss francs on me to cover the deposit as per their policy. The receptionist very rudely told me that “no money no key” i explained to her that iv just come off a flight I am really tired let me have a nap for a few hours and then ill go exchange some money and give you the 200swiss francs cash as deposit, even though 200 british pounds would have been more than sufficient to cover, to which she replied “we dont take pounds we only tale dollars or swiss francs and i should go back to the mall which was a 15min walk and come back with the money” i felt so belittled and made to look like a fool, I am well travelled and a gold member with hotels.com and have never experienced such low level customer service, even the duty manager was not supportive, this is NOT hilton level standards the staff NEED training.
