Great house
House was very clean, had everything we needed including an outdoor space. Mid Century decor is pretty neat and the way the bedrooms and bathrooms are separated is very nice. We enjoyed our weekend there very much and would stay there again.

Spring Green unique in every way

One of a Kind!
We didn't know what to expect in a container house. The inside was a pleasant surprise with very deco furnishings which brought back lots of memories. The house was the best supplied with seasonings and other staples that we have ever rented. It was very comfortable and convenient for the Wisconsin Riverside Resort.

Perfectly Quirky for any HOTR trip!
The blend of on trend vintage decor gave us the perfect vibe for our trip to see The House on the Rock. We were already surrounded with clean and inspiring surroundings that were surprisingly spacious. The hallway to the laundry bonus space was perfect for setting up my teen so he didn't have to stay on the sofa or share a room with his aunt. We took several photos, and we're delighted to see the WI deer meandering as we prepped for our adventures. I highly recommend this easy access, clean and cozy, well maintained property. The price was beyond reasonable, too!

Great little space
This was perfect for our family of four. The location was convenient to our relatives near by as well as to a local restaurant just down the road. Check in process was a breeze and owners were quick to respond to any communication.

Past & Future
We absolutely loved this house. The containers were effectively used to create a workable home and space. Very nice use of space. But the mid-century decor was a blast-to-the-past! Everyday we would find something that we hadn’t noticed before. The area is peaceful and secluded. On the other hand it is a quick drive to grocery store and other stores. It fitted our needs perfectly!

This was a wonderful place to stay while seeing some shows at APT, as well as taking in the other sights Spring Green has to offer. The hosts were excellent communicators and the home was spotless. This is one of the most unique rentals that I've been a guest in, and I enjoyed unwinding after a show surrounded by the well-curated interior. Great hosts!

Perfect Location for APT* performances!
Clean cute container home decorated in Mid-Century Glam. 2 BR and 2 Bath made it just right for two couples who like privacy. We walked the nearby DNT trail along the WI river. Dinner and breakfast in town was 5 minutes away and Spring Green is just charming. We’ll be back for another APT weekend in 2024! *American Players Theatre- a renown Shakspeare and contemporary live theatre organization.

Two lifelong friends on a getaway
I knew the minute we pulled in we would love it. Perfect quiet location on the edge of a meadow. The place is unique and has everything you could need. Perfect for two allowing us each our own "wing" of the house as we called them each with our own bath and bedroom. Perfect. Best place we have stayed in the area.

3 Retired Friends Escape the Big City
We love Spring Green…. Our 3 rd Year staying in the Area… a short drive from Milwaukee… The Shipping container House was Tucked away on a Dead end street Just minutes outside Spring Green….. so clean, Full of Retro and Mid- Century Decor…. So much Fun to go Back in time as we relived our Early Teen years…. It was a Great Time…. Farmers Market, outdoor Theater, cute quaint Shops….old white School House and the Wisconsin River…. Great place, just like Home!

Nice stay
We had a really nice stay at the Container House! We have stayed at nearly all of the local Spring Green hotels/motels over the years and this is nicer than all of them, and at a reasonable price. Its a pleasant space, the mid century decor is really cool and we loved the deck. We enjoyed several records (supplied) on the old record player/cabinet. We also took advantage of the nice walking trail adjacent to the house, and it was convenient that we could run down to the nearby resort for a quick dinner and music. Lots of fun.

Weekend at American Players Theatre

In a heartbeat!
What a delight! Someone in our car even squealed on arrival. We were a party of four there to attend a play at the American Players Theater, explore Spring Green and hang out in the Driftless Area. We spent the most time in the living/dining area and on the back patio/lanai. Although Canadian fire impacted the air quality mightily during our stay, we did enjoy a small burn in the fire pit late one evening. The bedrooms are small but comfortable. Creative use of big shipping containers to make a house. Another reviewer mentioned the showers in the bedroom areas — I found the configuration handy — after a shower the bedroom turns into a nice sized dressing room. Note that the showers do require a step up —there is a grab bar — and are quite small. And location, location, location! Wisconsin Riverside Bar & Grill for tacos and libations, short drive into Spring Green, and a 3-mile hiking trail immediately south of the property. Although close to everything — morning coffee, birdsong, a nature preserve — it still felt like a getaway.

Relaxing stay
We really enjoyed our spent at this adorable container home. It was clean, well-stocked and comfortable. Great location among the pines, we even saw a bald eagle overhead. It was an easy walk down the dead end road to the Wisconsin Riverside Resort where we enjoyed live music outdoors on the weekend. Thanks for a great weekend getaway.

Short get away
House was fun , very unique! We use Verizon as our wireless carrier and we were unable to access emails phone calls anything until we connected to Wi-Fi but then still cannot get any text messages or phone calls to go in or out ..But that’s not the home owners fault .. my dad was with us and he uses your cellular so we were able to hot spot off him to get the code to get into the house .

Enjoyable Weekend
We had an excellent stay in Spring Green at Shawn's property. We were able to grill, sit around the fire pit, and enjoy the patio. The space was well appointed and comfortable. It was really nice to have two full bathrooms in the space as well. We stayed here to attend the Morel Festival in Muscoda, which was about a 20 minute drive. We would definitely rebook this home in the future.

Such a tranquil home!
I was very curious how 3 containers could be transformed into a 2 bedrooom/2 bath home and was delighted with the results. The home had everything we needed: comfort, privacy, tranquility, natural light and convenience. It was ideal for the 3 of us as we wanted to cook for ourselves, relax, go on walks, visit Spring Green and Taliesin and enjoy the Wisconsin River just a 5 minute walk away. And if you're a birder, this place is for you!

Quiet and Private
The property is as advertised. Clean, private, very quiet and adjacent to hiking along the Wisconsin River. It's a unique building (two cargo containers) with an interior that was very well thought-out. Highly recommend.

Great Wisconsin Getaway!
We had a wonderful stay in Spring Green, WI. This is a lovely property that is exactly as advertised. Here are the things we enjoyed: the quiet & private location, the outdoor deck & grill, the walking trail located on the property, and the proximity to many fun events, sights, and things to do in the surrounding area, including the city of Madison. An FYI for future renters, there is no dishwasher in the kitchen; however, the clothes washer and dryer are a very helpful and appreciated feature. And, even with the wifi access provided, internet and cell phone usage/reception is challenging all around this area. Thank-you, Shawn & Julie, for a relaxing, well appointed, and environmentally thoughtful container home to rent.

Just us and the bunnies
The house is on the Wisconsin River Wetlands Trail. Many people in our group walked or ran on the trail. The Riverside Resort is a short drive away. We enjoyed drinks on the patio, which has a lovely view of the river. The house itself is very private. When the cars had not been driven for a while, rabbits with white tails hopped around them. The house is well designed and very clean. We liked being able to dine in. The bed that my husband and I slept in was very comfortable. My husband and I did not have any trouble with our shower. You have to take two steps up to it. However, our son-in-law is much taller. He said that his head brushed the ceiling of the shower. A photo of the kitchen shows a toaster. I think it was reasonable for us to expect to be able to toast our bread in it. Unfortunately, the toaster was useless because its cord had been cut off. I would have preferred having a dishwasher to having many empty cabinets, but we managed by hand washing dishes. Using dishes washed in a dishwasher would be more sanitary. Both men in our group said they noticed a slight whiff of sewer gas when they first stepped into the house. I did not notice it until the next day. It was noticeable when I walked past the room with the toilet and faucet. I found that running the bathroom fan only made the aroma stronger. I have informed the owner about this plumbing issue and would expect that he will fix the problem before the house is rented again. The aroma did not bother me when I was in the living room, dining room, kitchen, or bedroom. If we had stayed longer, we would have asked the owner to have the problem fixed during our stay. In retrospect I realize that our son-in-law made fires in the fire pit on two evenings partly to avoid the aroma. We enjoyed our stay and expect to rent the house again when we next visit family in Spring Green.

Perfect little retreat near Wisconcin River, Spring Green and APT
We stay in VRBO’s several times a year and this one is certainly a high point this year! Clean, well supplied with quality linens, stocked kitchen with nice utensils and flatware. Outdoor dining space and well appointed. It is three containers turned into spacious living that is decorated with mid-century COMFORTABLE furniture and accents. Well placed furniture, lots of light. No dishwasher, but we knew that! Two half baths so two couples or a family would have plenty of privacy. We spent most of our time at American Players Theatre and down town Spring Green. Drinks on the deck was pleasant- lucky to have very few bugs. We didn’t get a chance to use the firepit, but look forward to that on our return. Hosts are throughtful enough to suppy a cooler (great for the APT picninc) and we hope that lasts! You won’t be disappointed in this quiet, well thought-out retreat! Wifi and TV excellent!

Smooth Sailing in the Containers!
Our party of four had an enjoyable time in our first-ever shipping container stay. The bedrooms and bathrooms were small but functional. We liked the kitchen and living area - very comfortable for snacking and visiting. And the deck area was nicer than we had anticipated per the photos. Loved the easy drive to APT and Spring Green, and liked the quiet, peaceful setting.

Loved this retro container home
The house was exactly as advertised with cute 50’s decorations and very comfortable furniture and beds. It was perfect for two couples who grew up in the era of the decorations! It is well equipped, clean and easily accessible. The non-retro items were as up to date as you could want with a great smart TV with lots of channels/options, many plug ins for our electronics and reliable WiFi. Our cell service was terrible but WiFi coverage helped. The only negative, and I mean the only, is my 6’4” husband could not use the shower. The ceiling was about 6’ tall and very tight. Shawn has done a great job with our first venture into a container home.

We loved this house and property. So many little things were already thought of and provided. We were pleased with the privacy and access to trails (more miles of trails than we were able to cover). Our children loved it, and it was very comfortable for the four of us.

Lovely, but a warning for the environmentally sensitive
The location of this home is great, and the living spaces (esp outside) are delightful. We really enjoyed the decor and the area around Spring Green. I've read the other reviews from July and we seem to be only ones who experienced an odor we identified as mold. Shawn was very pleasant to talk with about the problem, he came down to check but by then we'd had all the windows open and fans running. We aren't extraordinarily sensitive folks, but clearly no one else noticed. Someone with environmental allergies would really struggle here. Shawn was great to work with, but the place was a little grimy and damp in addition to the mold concern. I'd stay here again if some solution to those issues could be found.

Not sure what Andrea was smelling, but no mold was found, We have never had a water issue. Andrea also said she could smell it on the outside, but could not find anything there either..

Great home in the Driftless area of WIsconson
My friends and I we're looking for a home for our one week exploration of Wisconsin's driftless area. This clever home made out of three containers is cozy, efficient and the mid-century modern decorations are fun! The location at the end of a road is private but still a great location to get to the great things the region has to offer, Shawn was a great hosts, answering our questions and making checkin a breeze.

Perfect woodland getaway
Shawn's container house is phenomenal! Everything is just as it says in the description and more. We used the great fire pit area many times as well as the table and chairs on the covered deck. Yes, the showers are short. Not a big deal and the only bit of 'roughing it' in this woodland home. This place also was much better stocked than other VRBOs I have been to lately. Plenty of toilet paper, garbage bags, etc - not the teeny starter that some are supplying. Shawn was very accommodating and even gave tips on happenings in Spring Green. I walked back and forth to the beautiful WI Riverside Resort many times. They have a very nice bar and restaurant on the river. A hearty thank you to Shawn for a great stay!

Good location. Just what we needed.
A nice launching spot for various attractions in the area. We liked the old records! And the large washer/dryer (we were in the middle of a road trip). No dishwasher or garbage disposal, though that didn't bother us. The walking path is nice, but bring long clothes to protect against the bugs. I believe the resort at the end of the street has some things open to public (swimming pond, restaurant, mini golf), though we didn't take advantage of them. The beds were comfortable.

Perfect!
A friend and I stayed at this unique beautiful home. It was perfect for us! Since it was hidden at the end of the road, it was an absolute quiet private location. The house had everything we needed and was spotless. It is nearby to a quaint town along with many interesting attractions and outdoor sports such as fishing or kayaking on the river. We enjoyed rhe mid-century modern feel. It was quite eclectic. The area was great for folks who don't like cities, crowds or noise around them. The showers would be difficult for folks taller than 5'8" as they were built up, we assume for plumbing reasons. But overall a great place at a reasonable price.

Nice cozy place to stay a bit off the beaten path
The shipping container setup is unique and the property is very private. There were a lot of mosquitos when we visited in mid-May and I highly recommend one prepares accordingly. There is a small grocery in town that has ample skeeter fighting tools. The ceilings are low in the showers and anyone over 6'-1" would have a hard time.
