"The lodge we chose was perfect, it had a hedged private garden & the hot tub was under cover should there be anu rain. The only thing to bear in mind is there is no shop on site and nearest is about 5 mins drive away.
But in all the site is amazing, great views, quiet, well laid out, both pet & family friendly site.
Great location to visit Elan Valley."

"It is located down a farm track on the farm grounds. Surrounded by fields and views of mountains, it’s just stunning.
You have just what you need, a bed, tv, bathroom, kettle, toaster, hob and microwave. Take your own food and you won’t have to see a soul.
Sadly for us, we had a problem with our vehicle but the lovely owners let us leave it at the farm whilst we got parts for it.

"The whole stay was beautiful! It was clean, spacious and the host even left Welsh cakes, eggs and milk in the fridge for me. It’s the first time I’ve solo travelled and this place was perfect for me, but I can also see it being perfect for a couple too! The host also left a “guide” on the table, with key information and recommendations for local places to eat and things to do, as well as cab companies which was really useful! I will absolutely be staying again! I had the best time and couldn’t...

"Delightful shepherd’s hut set in the mid-Wales countryside. Well equipped and maintained and very comfortable, it was just right for our long weekend visiting friends in the area. The bed was comfortable and the small kitchen and shower room met our needs. We benefitted from excellent weather so were able to take full advantage of the terrace which overlooked a field of buttercups and the nearby hills."

"The Lion Inn was a last minute booking but it did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was served hot. The breakfast was cooked to order and was a great welsh breakfast. The rooms were cosy but with a boutique hotel theme. Public areas were clean there was parking available with tables outside. The village was lovely too and the location made easy access to Montgomery and Welshpool. A great base for people touring that area. Wish we could have booked for longer. We would definitely visit again and would recommend the inn to anyone in the area. They also accept dogs which is good for any owners visiting the area"
"This hotel is exceptional. Itwas absolutely top notch. Could have been much dearer price. Breakfast was fantastic. Reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Supplied with dog bed for our terrier. Lovely town with lots of classy shops. Good dog walks.
A must!!! Will hopefully visit again.
PS. The hotel interior inc all decorations is outstanding. Not to be missed!!"
"The staff gave a great welcome . Great quality food and very affordable for a hotel . Montgomery is a delightful small town with amazing views across The Marches"
"Great little pub with amazing food, rooms have everything you need and the staff were amazing. Left out glasses behind and they found them and posted them back. Will definitely be back again."
"Check-in was smooth and easy, Jackie and her staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Our room was immaculately clean, fresh and the bed was very comfortable. We were warned on check-in that the Talbot doesn't do food on a Sunday evening, however we were able to eat at another venue nearby. We did have a couple of drinks from the bar at the Talbot, which were good value.
The village of Berriew is picturesque and we enjoyed walks around the village and along the Montgomery Canal. The location is also very convenient for visits to Powis Castle and its gardens. Parking spaces in the car-park looked a bit tight, however there was plenty of space to park along the quiet road outside.
Breakfast at the Talbot was delicious and well presented, if anything we'd ordered slightly more than we needed, but it was all good so we ate it all.
We'll be back when we're next visiting the area!"
"The room was clean however it is smaller than we expected but it was worth for money.
Free parking available however it gets busy in the evening because the people those who are coming to pub also use the same carpark.
The hotel situated in a great location. Aldi and Tesco Extra are few minutes walking distance. Curry house and kebab shops are close too."
"We stayed here in 2021 in the May. It was partially in lockdown in Wales but it was amazing then. We had out two young kids& dog. We loved it. So when I saw it pop up again at a reasonable price I booked it for August 2026. And again it was perfect. Perfect timing with the weather (there was a heatwave which unfortunately couldn't escape from sadly) but we had the eclipse & meteor shower as well.
Fantastic location to see both.
Theres a local forest walk with a large river just in the town. It also has a playground & benches. The red kite centre ( a bit expensive £37 for a family of 4 plus a dog fee, just to watch 10 minutes of birds feeding from a distance. Theres nothing else in the site). There's also the reservoir walks no to far away on a drive. Plus a nature reserve walk 10 minute down the road by car.
The van itself was clean , well stocked with kitchen equipment, had milk, tea, coffee on arrival & clean towels. Enclosed clean garden for the dog. The sofa folds up into a double bunk (not suitable for very small children as its very high & steps are very steep)
The only criticism if I have to put one is the hot tub has seen better days.
The lid is broken on one side and the jet tops keep popping off when in use.
The maintenence guy kept popping in to look at it but I think it's due for an upgrade.
But Over all it's a 10/10 for me and my family.
Its ideal for young families up to older couples looking to get away.
We will definitely be back.
We made great memories again ♡"
"Very warm welcome despite us being very late to arrive. Lovely spacious clean room with Gorgeous view. Didn’t book breakfast due to our food allergies but found that they would have catered for us. So would advise speaking to staff to find out. "
