We started our stay somewhat impressed by the house but sort of underwhelmed at the same time. The neighborhood is okay for St. Louis but the house is right next to Jefferson Ave which is a pretty busy street. There's more than a little road noise on that side of the house.
Some of the maintenance of the house is also pretty sketchy. In the kitchen there is a large window that appears to be improperly sized or sealed. The owner's fix was to jam plastic bags in the window to fill the gaps. As a result, the window doesn't seal well, is unsecure, and very noisy as it faces a busy street. We noticed several light bulbs out in house (at least 4) and they were all LED which leads me to believe that it may have been a wiring issue and not the bulbs themselves.
Trash from previous visitors was bagged and put in the backyard with no larger trashcan or dumpster provided. As a result, in the first night of our stay we had an opossum tearing into the trash scattering liquor bottles and what appeared to be a cup of chew spit around the yard. Because we'd brought our dogs with us, we had to clean up that mess. There also appeared to be a bunch of grease and charcoal dumped under the back steps.
In our first night we tried to contact the management company that runs the place to ask where the thermostat was (it's an obtuse looking little box with "alarm.com" written on it). I called twice and followed the prompts for "after hours maintenance emergencies" and nobody answered.
