Albury Manor House

"Everything was perfect. Great place to stay, super good value and great amenities and staff. Will be back."

"When I walked through the doors of this hotel I was met by a woman (Chris) behind the desk that didn’t even look at me nor greeted me. She was unsmiling and simply asked, what’s your name! She then informed me that as it was a public holiday there would be no room service or food available and if I wanted anything to eat I needed to go next door. I told her that Atura had not warned me of this when I made my booking. She curtly replied, because you booked through a third party (hotels.com). After driving for 7 hours the last thing I wanted to do was go next door to a restaurant. I told her that I wasn’t happy and I’d never heard of a big hotel such as this one closing its room service for meals on a public holiday! Not once did this woman apologise on behalf the hotel or even look vaguely interested in my concerns. Surely with the unemployment situation in Albury, the hotel could manage to find staff who know how to smile and greet and present bad news to a full paying customer?! I’ve never had such unfriendly service in a hotel. And obviously the hotel was cutting costs by not employing room service food staff due to having to pay higher public holiday rates! Disgraceful!"

"From the road it looks just like another hotel . But once you enter the hotel room you will be happy you stayed here. As the owner has updated the rooms and the bathroom areas are both modern and very clean. The owner has done an excellent job making these rooms very relaxing space to unwind after travelling."

"Great location and sports a modern and comfortable fit out, but the common areas are starting to look a little worn/tired. We also had to wait a while to check in (there was a second person on reception, but they seemed to be pretending to be busy once they'd finished checking someone in to avoid having to serve us)."

"Comfortable and clean bed. Good sized room. Hot shower. For a one night stay it was perfect. I arrived after 7 and hadn’t seen the email sent saying my key was in a locked box at the door. (I’d been driving for 7 hours.) But I saw a sign saying that keys could be collected at the SS&A Club so I went there. All good."

The Grand Oaks Resort

"The cheap price was the main reason we chose to stay at the Grand Oaks, although I don't know if I would've booked there, had I known it's on the same property as the old (haunted) asylum. My husband thought it was hilarious, and I, admittedly was a little scared at first but the room was cozy, so felt safe inside. The room was tiny but big enough for us and we could unfortunately hear every single noise our neighbours made, including some serious snoring, throughout the night. Overall the Oaks was reasonable for the price and would probably stay again, I wouldn't pay a cent further though, and the beds could do with proper fitted sheets and doona cover instead of flat sheet coverings."
