The Rockies 2103A by Mountain Vacation Lodging is a beautifully renovated and updated condo. From the floors to the ceiling and everything in between, this condo has great quality. It is a ground floor unit with a covered patio and an enjoyable flat yard space. Onsite at this development you'll find lots of open space, a large heated pool and 2 hot tubs, a clubhouse with lounge, ping pong, BBQ grills and picnic areas. It also has a very convenient location within walking distance of Gondola Square, restaurants, shops, and activities. You can walk to the slopes or ride the free city bus.

Location:
The Rockies Condos are located right below the Steamboat Grand, which is right across the street from Gondola Square. You're also not too far from shopping centers and the Yampa River. From this condo, it's a flat easy walk less than 100 yards to the free city bus stop on Cornice Road. The city bus service is year round, and does a short loop to Gondola Square, the Central Park shopping center, and then back to The Rockies. Walking to the ski area base is very doable for most people. If you walk about 100 yards up to the bend in Cornice Road, there is a sidewalk that leads up to the Steamboat Grand, about another 100 yards. Then you head slightly downhill towards Gondola Square and Ski Time Square. If you're not wearing ski boots, and carrying gear, the walk is pretty easy, a good way to warm up your legs before hitting the slopes. You can store your skis and boots in Gondola Square, and if you'll be renting ski and snowboard equipment, storage is free! Ask about our discounts on rentals! In spring, summer, and fall, walking around the base area is pleasant, easy, and there is no shortage of activities, restaurants, and shops to visit. You can hike or bike from your door right up into the national forest, or head the other direction and follow the sidewalk along Mt Werner Road right down to the Yampa River and Core Trail. This condo has a good and convenient location!

The Property:
Three are a lot of dated old condos out there. This one is not! When you book this property, you're reserving a place to stay which has been thoroughly and beautifully renovated throughout. It has high quality finishes and furniture. Features include granite counters, hardwood floors, new cabinets, new appliances, new fixtures, paint and tile, carpet and linens, there's even a new fireplace. The style and decor has both a western and contemporary flair that blends well. The living room has plenty of seating, with a queen sleeper sofa and a leather loveseat. The living room also has a wall mounted HDTV with a soundbar and warm gas fireplace. A large sliding glass door provides direct access to the covered patio. Off the patio is a flat yard space that is either grassy or snowy, a nice bonus in any season.

The dining room and kitchen are adjacent to and open to the living room, giving you one nice large space to enjoy. The dining table seats 6 and is ideal for games as well as meals. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, two toned upper and lower cabinetry, white counters and backsplash, and is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up some delicious treats. The bedroom is a good size, with plenty of space for the Queen bed plus matching end tables and dresser. Like the rest of the condo, this furniture and the mattress are new in 2020. Just across the hall is the condo's bathroom. If you have a larger group and are making use of the sleeper sofa, this is perfect. It's a split bathroom, with a doorway between the vanity area on one side and the toilet, shower and bathtub on the other. So one person could be taking a shower while another brushes their teeth. Not only is the bathroom very functional, it is also very nice. A large vanity provides lots of counter space, plus drawers if you like to put things away. The tub and shower has new 12 by 24 tile with a built in nook for your products, and clear glass doors to complete the look. Also, this bathroom is large enough to accommodate a stacked washer and dryer, in case you need to dry some wet mittens or prefer to travel light.

Access:
The ground floor location of the condo means easy access, which can be really nice after a long day of skiing, hiking, or biking, not to mention when you have luggage or groceries to carry. From the parking lot, to the front door, you'll walk down 7 stairs. Once you're inside, everything is on one floor. There are no stairs. There is also a boardwalk that leads from the unit past the volleyball court, straight to the pool and hot tub area, where you'll also find heated restrooms.

** Air Conditioning - Most mountain resort properties were not built with air conditioning. During most hours of the day and weeks of the year, AC is not needed. Summer nights are cool and fans are provided at most properties. Check the average high and low temperatures and weather forecast for your dates of travel, and look at the list of amenities to see if AC or fans are part of the rental property and look for ceiling fans in photos.
** Group Sizes, High Occupancy Fees, & Maximum Occupancy - Some properties use a “High Occupancy Fee” to “raise the rate” for larger groups, and are thus able to list a lower nightly rate for smaller groups. Each rental agreement and associated rates are for a specific group size. Guests must enter the correct and maximum group size at the time of booking. The agreement requires a guest to confirm the group size and subsequently, to disclose any changes to the planned group size, which may result in an increase, or decrease, to the total cost, and may result in a security deposit becoming required.
** Video & Noise Monitoring - Please note that noise monitoring devices, and security cameras, do exist on the exterior of the property. Cameras are positioned to cover all entrances and exits of the home. Cameras are present to ensure the property remains secure and safe, as well as to ensure that guests are honest and upfront about their planned use of the property. If you plan to bring more people than you've indicated, more dogs than indicated, to host a party or event, or do not intend to respect neighbors or the value and quality of the property, then this is not the place for you, and you should not book the property. Perfect condo for two people. All amenities you would need for basic stay. Comfortable living area and outdoor surroundings. Perfect location for the skier. A public transportation bus has a stop directly in front of condo complex and complex is across the street from the shuttle service to the ski resort. Grocery stores, liquor store, Starbucks, ski rental businesses and a whole lot more within about a mile radius. The Downtown area is a few miles away. We would return to this rental

My husband and I stayed for a week. The property was nicely decorated, clean, had a well supplied kitchen, comfortable bed, and plenty of hot water for showers. It is on the purple bus line which has a convenient stop 1 minute walk from the condo. We really liked the thoughtful items supplied like paper towels, garbage bags, cooking oil, plastic wrap, and tissues. Those little things help get a stay off to a good start.We did not have a car, so the free bus and private shuttle service schedules were important to us. One thing we were originally unsure about is how to use the private shuttle advertised in the listing. At least in the winter of 2025, the last Purple line bus runs at 6:44pm, and the private shuttle that is advertised in the listing, is not available until after 5:00pm. The management company representative was helpful getting all of that information clarified. We were hoping to take the private shuttle to go get groceries in the morning of our first day, but had to schedule that trip after 5:00pm because we did not want to lug all of those grocery bags on the free bus. Also, if you are not wearing ski boots and carrying skis, it is a nice10 minute walk to the transportation center at the base of the mountain to catch a bus downtown.We would definitely stay at this condo again. The condo itself, the location, and the helpfulness of the management company combined to make a great experience.

What struck me immediately compared to other VRBO‘s I’ve stayed in was how neat clean , unworn and well stocked The place was. Everything from spices to aluminum foil to dishwasher and clothes washer soap to Ziploc bags were all taken care of. The walk to the base gondola is approximately 10 minutes. Access to the shuttle to take one downtown was a short 10 minute walk to the base.

We had a great time staying at this condo. The location was ideal- walked to the slopes everyday (in ski gear too)! Condo was clean and super well put together. My only feedback was that the shuttle service listed was a bit confusing. I called asking about it and was told they didn’t pick up at The Rockies (maybe I just got them confused). Worked out as we only needed to drive in to town for dinner etc.
