“I would stay at the Inn at 161 every trip! The owner is the best! She is so accommodating and takes such good care of the property! I highly recommend it!”

“While the restaurant was excellent, the hotel quaint and the town wonderful, there were a few concerning features of my stay. The elevator was out for my entire stay with no advance notice, necessitating carrying a suitcase up and down a steep staircase. The carpet in the room was very extremely old appearing, and the bed was very uncomfortable without support and left me with a backache. For the high price, I was disappointed. There was no refrigerator or safe in the room either.”

“We appreciated the comfort of the room. There is a small creek running behind that was nice to listen to at night. The main room and bathroom were clean. The bathtub was clean. We did get some ants pretty quickly in the kitchen area with a sandwich on the counter. Otherwise, everything was comfortable.”

“It was passable, but don't set your expectations very high. The carpet didnt lay flat, and the flooring by the tub curling up. It's seen better days. The breakfast is only a prepackaged Svenhard's Danish. No prepared coffee with breakfast so you have to make it yourself in the room with the small machine. Next time we go wine tasting in the area we'll be looking for something a little better.”

“The property is conveniently located for visiting Placerville area. It's 10 minutes away from Red Hawk casino - a lot cheaper than staying Red Hawk hotel for you gamblers. The building itself is a bit worn from age but overall clean and maintained well. Included breakfast is fine - standard American affairs - bottomless coffee help waking me up and from spending money on Starbucks. The dining area (about half a dozen tables) can get crowded during morning rush hours so pick your time……

“We would of liked a microwave in our room We have stay here a few times and we always got a microwave but not this time. and the refrigerator inside the freezer part of it was so frozen there was a lot of ice build up on it. But other wise we had no problem and one more thing the hot water in the sink was so hot we almost got burned bad so please turn down the water heater before someone gets burned really bad Thank you See you soon”

“This is a 170 year old hotel with an elevator from the 1920's and it does show its age but it's conveniently located right on the main street going through the tourist destination of Placerville. Acceptable cleanliness and staff was very friendly and helpful. The decor and carpeting and fixtures showed a significant amount of wear. If you're looking for the fun and the ambiance of the town it's good - if you're looking for a hotel comparable to Marriott or Hyatt it's not in that category.”

“Beautiful classic hotel with modern amenities. Our room was super spacious and very clean. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. We recommend it highly and will stay here again.”

“Rooms were remarkably clean although not super modern. Bathrooms were spotless and good showers. Easy parking, nice staff, decent breakfast. Did not use pool. Convenient to 3 casinos in area and Sutter Creek and other tourist attractions.”
