Quiet Apartment in Coolest Small Town in America!

The apartment (aptly named Whistling Trains) is one-half mile from Sykesville's Main Street - the 2016 Coolest Small Town in America. There are lots of events in town, many walking paths through the community, a train that runs along the Patapsco River and through brick tunnels built in the 1800's. The town has
a lot of history and you are less than an hour to Gettysburg, Antietam, Harpers Ferry, Baltimore, Annapolis and Frederick. Washington DC is about 45 miles away.

The space

There is a Flat screen TV giving access to Cable only TV which includes Netflex and many other channels. There are also some board games, books and puzzles for your enjoyment.

The kitchen is intended to meet your cooking and dining needs. There is a Keurig coffee maker with K cups. You will find tea bags, sugar and a variety of sweeteners.

The HVAC system was replaced in 2016 and the new system has an air scrubber.

There is a Graco Pack N Play and a Fisher Price Space Saver highchair to accommodate our younger guest.

Guest access

Guests have full use of the apartment, covered porch, and designated off street parking. They may enjoy the front yard as well.
Guest must be able to step over a 3-4" threshold to enter the apartment. Also, the doors from the bedrooms to the bathrooms are a bit smaller than standard measuring 22".

Other things to note

Debbie lives off site. Co-host, Chris, lives on site but we respect our guests’ privacy. We can be contacted through Airbnb messaging or by text.

NO pets are allowed - NO exceptions.
NO smoking on the property

This was a really great stay and very convenient for our needs. We loved that it was clean, private entrance and parking. It was easy to get in and out and initial access communication was very smooth. Any questions I had were answered and I was very happy. Nice neighborhood, private studio apartment attached to single family home, easy driveway parking, very close to small town main street with shops, sidewalk bistro, restaurants, ice cream, brewery, and weekend outdoor bands. 2 comfortable bedrooms and shared bathroom between.them. separate private laundry room with full size washer dryer. We really enjoyed our stay. It was just a few minutes to downtown. We had to bring our own food and toiletries, but not much else. There were plenty of dishes, silverware, and pots and pans. The beds were comfy and there were more than enough towels, sheets, pillows and comforters. It was well stocked with paper towels and TP. There were full-sized front-loading washer and dryer. The only (minor) issue we had was that the shower was smaller than we expected. Not so much a problem for my daughters and I but it was a bit small for my 6' tall grandson. Overall a very enjoyable stay for all of us.

Super chill and quaint

My son and I were in town for a summer camp he wanted to attend. I had to telework while he was at camp. This was conveniently located and super chill. The space was cozy and plenty of room for the two of us. Well stocked and grocery options were nearby with lots of shopping and dining options as well. The beds were comfy and everything worked and was clean in the kitchen and bathroom.

Cute town, attentive hosts!

The hosts truly thought about everything and left detailed tips and instructions. The town feels like a romcom! Friendly people and sweet shops. We slept so soundly, didn’t even notice it was an attached property. Comfy beds, great water pressure in the shower, and a place to watch the NBA playoff games at night. I’ve traveled a lot of places, but Debbie and Chris’ VRBO has unmatched hospitality.

Little disappointed

Communication before we got there was good. When we arrived the code to the door would not work luckily the owner's son was there he literally had to redo the codes and he couldn't figure it out at first took a while to get in and he never said sorry about the door lock not working or anything it was like we bothered him. Entranceway was very dirty with leaves and grass cuttings thought it would be a little bit cleaner when you walk up to the front door . The carpet also was dirty didn't look like anybody had vacuumed I have pictures but don't know how to post. last thing is be careful when you walk out the front door there's a 2-in lip that is at the threshold of the door that you could trip on my wife did. The pictures are old the train out front is nothing like in the picture.

Nice Stay

Furniture was a little shabby. The bed was comfortable, but sheets didn’t fit well, slipped around quite a bit, and pillows were not comfortable. Location was very good and close to restaurants and shopping. We asked for a folding table and property manager brought us one right away and helped with the TV.

All the essentials at reasonable cost

Furnished with all the basics needed for 3 night stay. Comfortable beds. Easy parking and access. Nice area and easy walk to historic downtown Sykesville, which has couple of restaurants, bars, ice creamery, coffee. The house entry way could be significantly improved by moving the trash/recycling bins, and thus flies and foul odor, away from the front door, and removing the numerous cobwebs.

I do a lot of small trips. This was one of them. I find that a good b and b is often better than a hotel for less money. That was the case here. Very easy, comfortable stay, and I'd certainly visit again!

We sent 8 nights while celebrating a 50 year HS Reunion, visiting friends, and attending a wedding reception! The place was clean, beds comfortable, and located in a quiet neighborhood. If you are looking for high end luxury probably not what you want but if you are looking for great comfortable place to stay at one of the best values you could find in this area it’s wonderful! Would definitely stay again!!!

Great Location and Nicely Done

Very nice apartment and great location. Apartment is well appointed for a long or short stay, with everything needed for comfort, including a small desk for working (this was a "working" trip). With family in the area, we will be back and this is a perfect spot for a getaway. Very clean and quiet.
