A beautiful hotel in a historic building right next to vinyards. Located just on the other side of the hill from Tokaj village, this is a peaceful and secluded spot with lush gardens, tennis courts, a pool, and a terrace under huge trees perfect for sipping some of the estate's fantastic wines. Do a tasting if you can. Excellent food with unusual pairings of their sweet wines. Great base for exploring Tokaj and the Zemplen hills, although true exploration would probably require a car. 10 min by taxi into Tokaj. We had a nice tasting at a winery in Tokaj, but honestly we were happiest just sitting on the terrace at Degenfeld trying the different dry and sweet wines they produce and walking through the vinyards.

Nice hotel in the Tokaj area. Technically, it's in the next town over. Nicely maintained grounds and has many activities like a swimming pool, tennis courts, horseback riding, etc. It was rainy most of the time we were there and only experienced renting bicycles for short rides. They did not state renting bicycles had a fee when we requested them. I assume using the pool or tennis courts would be the same.

The property is in a quiet, remote location, exudes tranquility and elegance. What makes it less than exciting is really the personnel that seemed aloof and disinterested in making our stay better than average. We read about a welcome drink after our arrival, and it was funny that in fact I did ask if I could have a glass of wine as no bar and no cellar was available at the hotel. Wine tasting should have been arranged days earlier. There was a group of employees at the outside pool, which is a great piece, but we were greeted with a short good day and no one talked to us. It turned out they were lined up for filming an episode of a well-known Hungarian food blogger. We had dinner at the restaurant, and the food was great, but the serve was again minimalistic. The TV channels are indeed unenjoyable as pointed out by many others (poor reception - fortunately we never watch TV so this was not a major issue for us). We had a quiet night and a reasonable breakfast buffet service. This was August, which is considered high season in Hungary, yet it felt like an absolute off-season experience. Dull, impersonal, and forgettable.

Very clean and well maintained Hotel.
Efficient check in and free parking. Huge room with tasteful decor was very clean. Split double bed was hard as any of the others on this trip. The air-conditioning worked well and the room was quiet. Nice big bathtub to have a soak in and shower over had good pressure if not. Food at the restaurant was good with pleasant staff and the breakfast in the morning was Ok. Just wish the beds had a bit more comfort...........

A beautiful hotel and a tremendous staff!
Upon discovery of our family's ancestry originating from the nearby village of Erdobenye, we decided to make the journey from the US having read some positive things about Grof Degenfeld. We were not disappointed. While our stay took place in December, so many of the summer amenities were not available, I can say that the grounds themselves were beautiful, well maintained, and a joy to walk around. The dinner menu was varied enough to provide us with unique dining options each night of our 3 night stay. The staff was very helpful and extremely courteous. While English was spoken by a majority of the staff, some were better at it than others, but every request we had was fulfilled. This included use of the hotel Van and driver that took us each day to the nearby town of Erdobenye AND picked us up. The wines were delicious and the wine tour was a complete joy, made so in no small part by our delightful guide, Daniel. I cannot say enough about Daniel and his tremendous spirit and work ethic, and his vast knowledge of wines. Make sure to request this young man and tip him and his co-workers well as they work HARD and due to circumstances in Hungary, are not paid nearly enough for their efforts. A huge thank you to Daniel and the rest of the staff for all they did for us!

My sister and I stayed here for two nights in July. It was a 5-star experience in every way - the employees, the room, the food, the wine, the wine tour, the beautiful surroundings, the relaxing pool! We absolutely loved it!

Lovely comfortable stay - March 18
My mother a I stayed here 2 nights in March 2018 while visiting the Tokaj wine region. The hotel was lovely, with old furnishings and a great drawing room for having a drink and playing cards. Breakfast was included in the price and the only issue with this was the potion sizes (too big!). There is a winery on site and the grounds are simply lovely to walk around. Would definetely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling north east Hungary!

Very nice hotel for visit to Tokaj region
We weren't sure what to expect but were thrilled to find we had made an excellent choice with this hotel. The room was ready, very clean and tastefully decorated. The grounds are lovely and quite and it felt that we had stepped into a glamorous part of history. The staff were accommodating and kind, and dinner was exceptional. Our waiter went above and beyond expectations at dinner and we even met the winemaker. The only comment is our room got a bit warm overnight but that was probably our error. Overall we were very pleased.

Wonderful hotel in Hungary's top wine region
This hotel is on a beautiful property set amongst the vineyards of the Tokaj region. The hotel is absolutely wonderful and the staff is helpful and professional. I ate all of my evening meals at the the hotel during my stay. The food and service were excellent.

Marvellous hotel in a vineyard in Tokaj area.
This hotel was fantastic and great value. I would rate it a 5 star as it is palatial in size and furnishings.It was great to cool off in the outdoor pool after wine tastings at the cellar doors in nearby, famous Tokaj.The staff were v helpful with wine selections; the garden was beautiful despite dry weather. Well worth a visit.

Nydelig hotel. Fantastisk flott rom. Deltok på vinsmaking med flere gode viner. Hyggelig betjening. Aircondition fungerte ikke for kjøling, noe det ikke gjorde på noen av de 6 hotellene vi overnattet på. Grei middag og frokost.

Good atmosphere. You can relux your holiday at pool in the hotel. They also provide the good dinner. I tried to eat gulyas several times in Hungary. It was best in this time. It was very rich and tastes good like a main dish. I storongly recommend to order it.

Hadde to fantastiske overnattinger i svært idyllisk område. Hotellet har en stor park, vingård og utendørs svømmebasseng. Vi smakte utsøkte hvite og de berømte tokajvinene. Stedet er fredelig og vakkert.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit kleinen Mängeln
Schöne Hotelanlage, wir haben uns wohl gefühlt. Besonders der Pool ist klasse. Nur das Frühstück ist nicht 4 Sterne-würdig und ein Kühlschrank und Teekocher auf dem Zimmer wären gut.
