Ok but not great or restful

The rooms are up narrow stairs. I got sick of walking up and down the stairs. The kitchen needs renovating. Maybe some pot plants and some new flooring would make this area more inviting and less tired and dirty looking. The room was clean and had a good ensuite and a TV. This was good. But with the window open, the room door rattled all night. It is right in the middle of the town and above a bar. So there is quite a bit of traffic and bar noise

The hostel is avove the street with all the pubs and bars so there was music pumping and people shouting outside the room untill 3.30am. And it was loud!! If you're planning on going to bed before that then it's not ideal but if you're planning on going out it's a great location.

Taupo lake experience

It was too nosy because of music from nearby restaurants Plato loud till midnight. We stayed on a 3rd level without lift, so it was not comfortable. Another unexpected thing was a bunk bed in a tiny room. However we loved this small city with great Lakeside

Just avoid, not worth it.

The bed was held up by three blocks of wood. My wife was asleep on the bed when I hopped off it, shifting the dodgy wooden block construction under the bed. My wife dropped in a sag in the middle where the dodgy wooden blocks were. The shower leaked requiring me to collect 3 new towels to block the water flowing from it. The rooms are situated above a nightclub and the walls are paper thin, this will keep you up till 0300. The staff were vapid. Rubbish from previous occupants was still under the bed.

Fint hostel men desværre meget larm.

Vi boede på et privat værelse med dobbeltseng og eget badeværelse. Rigtig fint værelse, dog meget begrænset plads på værelset. Venligt personale og dejligt centralt. Grundet den centrale placering var der dog desværre både en bar på gaden overfor og i samme bygning. Så der var desværre rigtig meget larm om natten. Alt i alt en rigtig fin oplevelse.

Decent, cheap place to stay

Great value. Close to the i-site and buses. Relatively clean and has a large, clean kitchen. Also a nice outdoor seating area with a nice view. A bit noisy because of the bar/club downstairs/next door, but they give you free earplugs if you ask!

Nice clean hotel. nice staff. Built next to and over a Bar that has live music on the weekends. sounds like the band are in the room next door. on a plus note they do supply ear plugs in the rooms ;-)

Sem jovens bagunceiros é um bom lugar

Havia um grupo de jovens ocupando quase todo o hostel e não sabiam respeitar os hóspedes. Falavam muito alto e gritavam no corredor. Como não há ninguém na recepção após às 21:00 h, foi preciso situá-los. Fora isso não houve mais problemas.

Nice location and pleasant stay

There are many eating places around the hostel. Taupo Lake is right at the back.Supermarket is within 10mins walk. Huka Falls is also not too far,about 6km away with a bus depart from I-site. 4beds dorm room is clean with attached toilet

An overnight stay on a long distance journey

We stayed here for one night as we needed an overnight for a break from driving as it was a last minute trip down the island and it was a last minute booking online. Beds were great, would be one of the best comfort wise I’ve slept in at a motel/hotel. I have a bad back so bed comfort is really important to me. Staff were really friendly and helpful. No lift to 3rd floor which 3 weeks after knee surgery wasn’t ideal, but I survived. Room was noisy due to location, centre of town/night life and a noisy air conditioning unit outside our window. Only parking was street parking available in the town. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again, however I would recommend for travellers/backpackers/party people who want to be in town enjoying the night life and if I was 20 years younger I would definitely stay again.
